The firehose of misinformation that goes past my eyes is impressive even to me. I try not to think it's ALL true but sometimes I just wish really hard and hope for the best.
I know! I haven't really dug into it (I don't care), but the media and Xitter are eating it up! It is a pretty strong image tho!
Found on Xitter:
Ian: "Also, the Turkish Olympic shooter apparently just wants his dog back. Dude may legitimately be John Wick."
Woody: "That was a satirical post." Ian: "Still hilarious."

I'm reserving judgment on whether this is a great story or a made-for-TV movie. He had never fired a gun before, but was in a fight with his ex-wife and went shopping for guns. Next thing you know he's in the goddam olympics and in his post-game interview, told his ex that he wants his dog back. Is there a Season 2?

And when you get right down to it, many/most world class athletes are genetically exceptional in one area or several and there is always someone thinking about ways to combat that advantage. Consider the perennial suggestion to raise basketball hoops. The Eddie Gaedel gag would have probably been addressed in the rule book if it had changed the outcome of the game.
Didn't know about the Eddie Gaedel gag. Though an obvious gag isn't likely to be the impetus for some new rules. Especially way back when we used coal to cook the bison carcasses over.
Since I straw-manned you below, I'm glad to hear you say this.
I don't know how it is all going to shake out. I hope that wherever we end up encourages as many people as possible to take part in sports at whatever level is appropriate. The DSD article Prins posted was enlightening and worth a read.

Yeah I haven't even bothered to bug report that one.
Same. William indicated long ago that the song commenting code had diverged and was not the same as the forum - and he had little interest in fixing the forum. I understand his POV. (though I did report a particularly nasty code glitch in this forum to him recently, and it got fixed pronto)
I don't disagree but this isn't the case that will settle the issue. It's just a bigger can of worms. If you say she's not eligible for women's sports because she has too much testosterone in her system so she must compete with men, well there are probably plenty of born-with-a-penis men who nonetheless have low testosterone and high estrogen.
It is not a simple black and white situation, for sure.
âToday, the IOC reaps the humiliating harvest of repeatedly undermining safety and fairness for women and girls in sports,â said former Canadian track champion Linda Blade, past president of Athletics Alberta, the provincial governing body for track and field.
âItâs time for the IOC to restart a full consultation on sports eligibility that, this time, includes the voices of women.â
Her change of stance (for whatever her reasons) doesn't make the problem of men competing in women's sports go away.
Everytime I see another example of this travesty, I think of a friend who's a very accomplished multiple gold, silver & bronze medal-winning long-time oval track and road cycler, winning at events around the world. Her decades of accomplishments would be wiped out if a middling male rider had been allowed to compete in those women's cycling events.

That always happens when you drag-select a headline with photo, even though the photo comes along. I usually see it and delete it but you're not missing anything.
Then there's the matter of the forum editor inserting undesired code, losing its brain and tool buttons after one too many preview or html toggles.
But this isn't a case of a man competing as a woman. You conservatives are all about the sex assigned at birth until it is someone assigned as a woman at birth, presumably with woman genitalia competing as a woman. Everything is so obviously black and white to you until it isn't and your stance doesn't work.
"You conservatives" ...
Do you presume to speak for & assume all liberals & progressives support allowing persons with âmale genetic characteristicsâ to compete in women's sports? Try and step away from the stereotypes for once.
Good read here - balanced reporting. I won't excerpt anything other than:
In 2021, the IOC adopted a âframework for inclusion and non-discriminationâ in Olympic sport that insists there should be no âpresumption of disproportionate competitive advantageâ due to sex variations or transgender status.
