On my third? Fourth? listen to this. Terrific mix! Highlights for me:

Margaret Glaspy and Adia Victoria are both new to me, and both were pretty compelling, but Victoria's...take? Interpretation? Remix? Extension? Whatever...of the Leadbelly classic really got my attention. More of this!

That's some rockin' Brandi Carlisle right there.  Not what I'm used to from her, but I like it.

Brooke Annibale—another new to me, but super strong. The arrangement is really spare and strong.

.Carina Round—this would fit right in on a Luscious Jackson album. OK, maybe a little spare and simple for them, but...damn tasty.

Esme Patterson—kinda dreamlike and trippy.

Joanna Newsom—her voice is strong medicine, but I'm getting a taste for it. And how often do you hear a harpsichord on a modern piece of music anymore?

Gaelynn Lea—Joanna Newsom again? No? Hmmm.. Fine fiddle there too.

Martina Topley Bird—more dreamy stuff.

Rosali—had to check this wasn't Aimee Mann. very fine.

Not a single song on this I didn't like. As always, impressed with your taste! This disc will get a few more spins.

Found some time over the holiday weekend to give this fabulous mix a spin. First off any music presented by the fairer sex is highly rated here in the Casa de Cold Miser. See my past submission "Chicks with Licks" for evidence. Not sure where this influence came from, maybe Mom playing Barbara Streisand A LOT when I was a wee lad. As with most of the mixes you offer us there is so much new to the ears that it defies convention. "Where does he get this from" is often in my thoughts as I enjoy the tuneage. Some thoughts along the way.

* Margaret Glaspy - Has a Veruca Salt sound
* Brandi Carlisle - She's got a great set of pipes! No wonder she's won a handful of Grammies
* Brooke Annibale - Funny her Wikepedia picture she looks like Margaret Glaspy
* Carina Round - This song sounds like something you'd hear on RP, low and behold it's in their library
* Erika Wennerstrom - I didn't realize she stepped out of The Heartless Bastards. I saw them open for Lucinda Williams once, the KILLED!
* Fever Dolls - Wow! I'm really digging this. Hey look they are from Vermont. Dang it they just played over the border in Brattleboro while I was in the process of moving. Hope to catch them next time.
* Joanna Newsom - Now this is different. Wizard of Oz comes to mind. You don't see many Harp artists these days.
* Martina Topley-Bird - I'm liking the handclapping in the background. The world's first instrument used to subtle perfection!
* Mitski - Angelic voice, good soothing sound. This one is guaranteed to be on Lazy 8's playlist.
* Rosali - She would have been great in a Fairport Convention reunion band.
* Sharon Van Etten - Jersey Girl! I'll bet her parents bought patio furniture at Fountains of Wayne.
* The Last Dinner Party - I like an all chick band - Wow look at that, they opened for The Stones in Hyde Park.
* Valley Queen - Good rolling along style song.

Thanks for the mix! Most enjoyable. When I eventually get my CD player set up in my new workshop this one will be in high rotation.

To borrow a lyric from 19th Nervous Breakdown,

And your father's still perfecting ways of making sealing wax, I might identify with this as being the father and the stupor induced by my involvement with my vinyl.  It has become an all consuming anal retentive endeavor.

The mixes take me away from that and redirect me for a moment and provide a breath of needed fresh air before I return to this crazy mission of mine.

So thanks for taking the time and effort and love that everyone puts into these mixes and dealing with my lapses of simple social courtesies.
Well... you did tell us you quit except for one month a year.
So I don't expect you to review.

I find it hard to do a review.
They take me some time and I try, though it may not seem like it, to put some thought into the review.
I'm concerned I don't sound too inane at those.
Which I have a problem with other things also.

Okay. Have to correct the statement I made a few weeks back about songs I have my playlist being like yours.
While I was first listening to your mix... my own playlist kicked in. I thought it odd we had exactly the same taste. Nobody is as odd as me.

Anyways... sorry this took a procrastinators month to get out. I had to beat Mr. MZun's delivery.

Algeria Touchshriek - David Bowie Here’s one that isn’t played much. I’ve never heard this before. A little odd for me. But not for David.

When You Give Your Love to Me - Kevin Gilbert Nice rootsy feel here. Reminds me of other guitarist singer song writers like Todd Snyder.

Where’s the Playground Susie - Glen Campbell: A really nice oldie from Glen. Nice memories from this.

Dear Prudence (Esher Demo). - John Lennon: Nice stripped version of a great song.

Valley Winter Song - Fountains of Wayne: Okay here’s one from my playlist. Love those guys.

Jesus is a Rochdale Girl – Elbow: Another one from my playlist. I like Elbow. This one with its piano riff is just wonderful. And like Mr. Miser said... thanks to William for the intro to this band a few years back.

The Face and I - Brian Protheroe: Sounds like Billy Joel was channeling Brian at some point. Nice.

The Up – Utopia: It seems that Utopia/ Todd and Queen were on the same track during this era.

I Don’t Want Your Money – Chicago: Lots of blues here. Too much for me. Now I’m sad.

Free - David Bowie: Interesting cover.

Your Gold Teeth - Steely Dan: I remembering listening to Steely Dan way back when they first came out. And all the critics referring to them as “Jazz”. What? I don’t like Jazz! But I like Steely Dan.

Black Cars - Gino Vanelli: That iconic 70s’ssound!

Good Vibrations - Brian Wilson’s version: Okay. There’s not much I don’t like about the Beach Boys. I’ve collected a lot of their weird, unique and a cappella versions of their songs. Those a cappella ones really highlight their vocals. It’s always nice finding them.

This gives me an idea for a Mixtape theme maybe someday.

Once again, a nice mix here. I’m surprised you did this while globe-trotting.
Thanks for getting this one out for us.
