A Charlatan I
Noble and wild
Hustlin' for tricks to help you feel loved
And we all need a shoulder to cry on.... once in a while
And there won't be a dry eye
In the house tonight

Blackened blue eyes
I don't care too much for your
Circumstances or you
Situation wise

A Charlatan I
Will blossom and die
One day you'll find a real need for love
Or you live with the fear for
The rest of your life
And there won't be a dry eye
In the house tonight

Blackened blue eyes
I don't care too much for your
Circumstances or you
Situation wise

The one thing I hate
The numb and the fake
The gutless who rape
The jaws of a snake
We all need a best friend
We can trust with our lives till the end
And there won't be a dry eye
In the house tonight

Blackened blue eyes
I don't care too much much final chances
Ride out into a world of random
Prostitutes
I'll show you some fantastic scenes
And it will be alright
Blackened blue eyes
Blackened blue eyes
Blackened blue eyes

Oh, so down with free speech, and freedom of choice/opinion huh? Communists like you shouldn't be allowed anywhere in the universe, internet or not.

So anyone who thinks Trump is a dangerous demagogue who is likely to drag the USA into civil war, lawlessness and anarchy is a Communist?  You are Joseph McCarthy and I claim my £5.

There's a time and a place for political discussions. And don't get me wrong, I love a good political discussion... but this isn't the appropriate venue for such a thing. Let's keep the conversation on the rock-and-roll, okay?

Um....  Comparing corruption in the Biden administration to Trump is like comparing the amount of water in a shot glass to the Pacific Ocean.

Thank you RP for just playing All Them Witches - had a rough week and I needed a great pick up - these are such an amazing band - getting me back on track x

To make it even weirder, I think sonicsurfer is Canadian because they mention using Canadian currency to support RP in their post for Reflector by Medeski, Martin & Wood.
Another excellent tune on "My Favorites" list by a band that I had never heard of, prior to RP. Thank You RP!

Agreed!
This JAM absolutely showcases the ability of the singer, the inimitable Tim Burgess, perfectly. He's great on every song, but on this one, it is easier to hear how amazing his talent really is. In my all-encompassing collection of them, there are truly no duds...every song of theirs is such a party-sparking treasure! I've always loved and worshipped this band, and I know it's right that I shall crank their jams with confidence always and everywhere. They really raise the altitude when played!

I thought it was going to be Moby from the intro.
You know, these guys are pretty good. I always liked them, but for some reason didn't listen to them much when their music was coming out in the 90's. Fortunately we now have RP to find and play excellent music that time otherwise has forgotten.

Don't run all the Trump supporters off but deadbeats who ride for free who are welcomed by Bill and Rebecca can take their ideology elsewhere. I'm thankful for the opportunity to help support RP but am here for the tunes, not political discourse.

It's We Love You. And in my ears it's not only the opening but the piano riff played throughout the song.

This is a definition of a song that "cooks" Excellent jam.
The opening few bars sound a lot like that Moby song that was in the Bourne films..
Sounds a bit like Stereophonics

One of the bands Oasis wished they were.
Blackened Blue Eyes sounds like something you'd order at a backwater Cajun restaurant.
This song was used during the credits for a Jason Bourne movie.
I believe it was the one with Jeremy Renner and not Matt Damon.

Anyone can make submissions: Songs must be available for public listening via YouTube, Soundcloud, or Spotify. Keep in mind that if you include only a Spotify link, your submission may not be available to all potential listeners. YouTube & Soundcloud are more universally accessible.

And who did Deep Purple rip off? Plenty of rock artists who came before them, I'm sure. I was in my teens when DP were in their pomp, and although a good metal band they were nothing special or innovative. They were certainly derivative, and I don't mean that as an insult, just a descriptor.

Can we stop using 'rip off' as a term of abuse on here? All music is derivative of earlier music. After millennia of human music making you're not going to get original sounds. What you will get is variations on the many, many themes in music, including rock. The Charlatans plainly have elements of older rock sounds in their songs, as does every other rock band. Try seeing it as homage rather than rip-off.

Deep Purple ripped off Neil Diamond. Didn't they?

And, per usual, I agree with the Nottingham jury....

One of the many songs on RP I bought the first time I heard it.  Thanks!!
Maybe I'm out in left field on this one, but the song it sounds most like to me is Fascination Street by The Cure...

Thank you lawman!  Seems some people here are sitting there just waiting to hear even the slightest sound, in their opinion, that is a "rip-off" from another artist.  These people need to get a life....{#Cheers}
 Shaken_Bake wrote:
No, no, no!  The opening riff is totally a ripoff from Al Stewart's Year of the Cat track, On the Border.  Don't you hear it?

It's a broken or arpeggiated minor chord with an alternating fourth added in, banged on at a quick pace; it's not really a "riff" at all.  It's a different progression of chords than Stewart's tune as well.  Therefore, it is not  "totally a rip-off", though it does sound similar or reminiscent.  Maybe people here should really learn to play an instrument or learn a little more about music before accusing recording artists of plagiarism or copyright infringement.  If not, at least learn the definitions of words like "totally", "exact", or "riff" before carelessly tossing them around.
VERY SIMPATICO!!
Great band - great album - great song!
The more I hear this, the more I love it. Such a powerful sound - and yes, "On the Border" springs to mind at first, but it takes such a different path from the intro that the comparison to Al Stewart stops there. This song shines on its own merits. Bumping from 8 to 9 because it just MOVES me.
