"There are some occasions when a man must tell half of his secret in order to conceal the rest." unknown
Coin Is Madaidhean-allaidh | Dogs and Wolves | Thar na sìorruidheachd, thar a sneachda, chì mi mo dhàin neo-dheachdte: chì mi lorgan an spòg a' breacadh gile shuaim hneach an t-sneachda: calg air bhoile, teanga fala, gadhair chaola 's madaidhean-allaidh, a' leum thar mullaichean nan gàradh a ' ruith fo sgàil nan craobhan fàsail, ag gabhail cumhang nan caol-ghleann, a' sireadh caisead nan gaoth-bheann: an langan gallanch a' sianail thar loman cruaidhe nan àm cianail, an comhartaich bhiothbhuan na mo chluasan an deann-ruith ag gabhail mo bhuadhan; rèis nam madadh 's nan con iargalt luath air tòrachd an fhiadhaich, troimh na coilltean gun fhiaradh, thar mullaichean anm beann gun shiarach; coin chiùine cuthaich mo bhàrdachd, madaidhean air tòir na h-àilleachd, àilleachd an anama 's an aodainn, fiadh geal thar beheann is raointean, fiadh do bhòidhche ciùine gaolaich, fiadhach gun sgur, gun fhaochadh. | Across eternity, across its snow, I see my unwritten poems: I see the spoor of their paws dappling the august whiteness of the snow: bristles raging, bloody-tongued, lean greyhounds and wolves, leaping over the dykes, running under the shade of the trees of the wilderness, taking the narrow defile of glens, making for the steepness of windy mountains; their baying yell shrieking across the hard barenesses of the terrible times, their everlasting barking in my ears, their hot onrush seizing my mind; career of wolves and eerie dogs swift in pursuit of the quarry, through the forests without veering, over the mountain tops with sheering; the mild mad dogs of my poetry, wolves in chase of loneliness, loveliness of soul and face, a white deer over hills and plains, the deer of your gentle beloved beauty, a hunt without halt, without respite. | Gaelic
"There is nothing stronger in the world than gentleness."Han Suyin

July 20. Hot as time. nothing particular today. July 21. Auful hot. big thunder shower and litening struck a tree in front of Perry Moltons house. July 22. Went to church. Beany let the wind out of the organ and it squeaked and made everybody laff. Keene and Cele sing in the quire. father feels pretty big about it. July 23. i got stung by hornets today. i went in swiming at the eddy and when i was drying my close i set rite down on a stump where there was a nest of yellow bellied hornets. they all lit on me and i thought i was afire for a minit. i ran and div rite off the bank and swam way out under water. when i came up they were buzing round jest where i went down. when i came out the fellers put mud on my bites and after a while they stoped hurting. i tell you the fellers jest died laffing to see me run and holler. July 24. Brite and fair. i was all sweled up with hornet bites but they dident hurt enny, i looked jest like Beany when he had the mumps. everyone laffed at me. July 25. i got a fishhook in my leg today. me and Fatty Melcher was a fishing when we got our lines tangled, i hollered first cut, but i dident have enny nife and Fatty woodent let me have his nife. So we got jerking our lines kinder mad like and all of a suddin the hook got into my leg. gosh you bet it hurt. me and Fatty got the hook out but it bled some. the worst of it was there was a wirm on the hook and when we got the hook out they wasent enny wirm there. Fatty says people sometimes dies from having wirms in them. i bet this one has crawled way in. it may grow inside of me. something is always hapening to me. when i got home i went down to docter Derborns store and bought some wirm medicine and swalowed sum. it was auful bitter. it cost 20 cents out of my cornet money. THE AMERICAN NIGHT
For leather accrues The miracle of the streets The scents & songs & pollens of existence
Shiny blackness so totally naked she was Totally un-hung-up
We looked around lights now on To see our fellow travellers

They were hiding behind hay bales, They were planting in the full moon They had given all they had for something new But the light of day was on them, They could see the thrashers coming And the water shone like diamonds in the dew.
And I was just getting up, hit the road before it's light Trying to catch an hour on the sun When I saw those thrashers rolling by, Looking more than two lanes wide I was feelin' like my day had just begun. Where the eagle glides ascending There's an ancient river bending Down the timeless gorge of changes Where sleeplessness awaits I searched out my companions, Who were lost in crystal canyons When the aimless blade of science Slashed the pearly gates. It was then I knew I'd had enough, Burned my credit card for fuel Headed out to where the pavement turns to sand With a one-way ticket to the land of truth And my suitcase in my hand How I lost my friends I still don't understand. They had the best selection, They were poisoned with protection There was nothing that they needed, Nothing left to find They were lost in rock formations Or became park bench mutations On the sidewalks and in the stations They were waiting, waiting. So I got bored and left them there, They were just deadweight to me Better down the road without that load Brings back the time when I was eight or nine I was watchin' my mama's T.V., It was that great Grand Canyon rescue episode. Where the vulture glides descending On an asphalt highway bending Thru libraries and museums, galaxies and stars Down the windy halls of friendship To the rose clipped by the bullwhip The motel of lost companions Waits with heated pool and bar. But me I'm not stopping there, Got my own row left to hoe Just another line in the field of time When the thrashers comes, I'll be stuck in the sun Like the dinosaurs in shrines But I'll know the time has come To give what's mine.
Shakey
