You deleted and reposted this so you could be on the RAFT?
Sigh. It drives people away from looking at the forums, which seems like your goal. You must be so happy.
Folks - don't read about this mystery or watch the trailer. Go into it cold but know three things: 1) Drew Goddard (Good Place, Martian, Lost, Cabin in the Woods) 2) Michael Giacchino 3) Wife and I both gave it an 8 and are still talking about it the next day.

This was really interesting. A thoughtful sci-fi with an ambiguous ending. Some scary monster parts, but the point was more complex than expected. Recommended.
Yep, I liked it too. Also saw the new Bladerunner movie the other day, which I loved. A worthy sequel.

I just signed us both up for MoviePass while it's on sale. Seems like a great thing if you like going to films but don't want to pay $12 each time you walk in.
It's on sale now for $105 for a year of being able to go to a movie every day.
That's pretty cool. As someone who tags along to a lot of Marvel movies and then can't justify also going to an actual film, I'd get one of those just for me.

Watched Apur Sansar (The World of Apu), final film in Satyajit Ray's "Apu" trilogy. Really good film, very old fashioned/not expensive production but impressively moving.
Like the first two, it mimics life, veering between hope, joy, pathos, heartbreak, desperation, etc. One of the better love stories on film features in the plot. The trilogy showed what rank beginners can accomplish.
I like Roger Ebert's summation that the Apu trilogy serves to remind movie lovers what cinema has the potential to be.
Just saw the Intouchables. A French movie based on a true story-subtitled. Fantastic and touching. I think it's only in LA and NY right now, but it's supposedly broken records in Europe that Hollywood has never broken. If you can find it see it. Heard there's a Hollywood version in the works but see the original if you can.
