He's not left-handed though; he said he was just always more comfortable playing that way. It must be disorienting to shooters sometimes. Even Mitch Marner brought it up after having his penalty shot blocked by Bussi in Game 3: "I was pretty exhausted, to be honest," Marner said. "I really didn't notice they switched their goalie and I didn't notice he's an offhand as well."
Makes me wonder how many shots from Vegas were directed at his blocker side by instinct in the heat of the moment. That may have been Carolina's secret weapon because there's more net around the glove side to shoot at.
Staal becomes the oldest Conn Smythe Trophy recipient. Comes from a great hockey family. His older brother Eric was on the Carolina team when they last won the Cup in 2006 while he was starting his career with Pittsburgh. And it helps to have hot goaltending and Bussi finished what Andersen started. And yes, weird to see a right-hand-catching goalie.

The series started out with just crazy entertaining games. It kind of ended on a with a thud instead of a bang. I was hoping to see it go 7.
Congrats to those old Hartford Whalers!
Don't like Vegas. So I'm glad it never went to a 7th game.
They played very well - especially the last two games. 37-year-old Jordan Staal winning the Conn Smythe Trophy, and the rookie (5 years in the minor leagues) goalie - Brandon Bussi - had a great series. A right-hand-catching goaltender - you don't see them very often.

You had a cousin born in Montreal, interesting. Even more interesting is that he was drafted twice in 1977, 3rd overall in the NHL draft (Washington) and 38th overall in the WHA draft (Nordiques). He eventually went with Washington.

The worst production from the Bruins in this series. Where was the defense?
I canât say sorry about the Habâs so itâs game 7 for them. Canât root for them even though my cousin played for them.
Guess I will be rooting For the Baby Bears. They had the best record this year and had a first round bye. I will be traveling down to Providence Rhode Island to see a game I hope.
Sorry about your Bruins. So who was your cousin?
Ya, I'm keeping an eye on the Baby Habs also. Heartbreaking loss for the Habs last night. 1-0 in OT. Ouch!

Gene, tonight's the night. My Habs can eliminate the Bolts. The Sabres can eliminate the Bruins.
Good luck to your Bruins. Personally I'm impressed with their season.

The second game of the Frozen Four tournament was basically the championship game. Second overtime period was draining when Denver, who was outplayed in most of the overtime, scored the winning goal over Michigan.
Got home after 2 am. Looking forward to the championship game on Saturday night.
