So the 7 day vaca was a chit show. Two days before I went up there my buddy, the host, said they had no water. The owner told him to got to the lake and load up the 5 gal pails with water to flush the toilets. Told him send the women and the baby to the lake to bath. Pee and chit in the woods like the bears. Said he would send a plumber Monday, but my buddy said no way so plumber came Sunday. Itâs been in a moderate drought again this year and the wells need to be drilled deeper for the future.
I got there Monday and everything was OK until one of our buddies fell through one of those plastic Adirondack chairs which were sun baked and fragile. Later that night while we were putting a 2000 piece puzzle together, my buddies daughter saw something moving and it was a mouse trying to get into my backpack. That was the last straw for him. Everybody packed up on Tuesday morning and headed for home while we had a large Lunch at the restaurant on the beach.
Just as we were getting to leave the restaurant his wife called and booked another place till Saturday so we didnât have to head all the way back home and then back up again.
So he was on the phone and texting with the VRBO and the renter of the original place for the rest of that week so we really didnât get a chance to go back to the beach even though it was cool but still wouldâve been nice. Owner wanted to take the full $400 damage fee to replace the busted chair Which is worth $50 at most and we found a replacement at Ace Hardware, which was $27 on sale for $15 better than the one he had. He told my buddy replace the chair and Iâll only charge cleaning fees for the two days you were there and call it even. Instead of him telling VRBO they had struck a deal, he let it go until Friday then told VRBO heâll charge him for the two days he stayed there with no water and the cleaning fee. That guy was a real weasel, and if anybody sits on those other chairs, they will fall and break something since we noted there were more cracks in the other chairs. Somebody will sue him for that I hope.
The only problem with the new rental was that the TV didnât work with the 47 different remote controls only had limited access to YouTube and Amazon plus and Hulu was outdated and didnât work, but outside of that it was really peaceful and quiet. Just what I needed for a few days to rest my brain.
Really felt sorry for my buddy since he looks forward to it every year. And he really needs that break.
So thatâs what I did on my summer vacation teacher.
So sorry to hear this! Deserves a bad review to spare others the same bs.
