I'm standing in your corridor
I wonder what I'm waiting for
The Leaves are drifting out to sea
I'm waiting for you desperately

All things beautiful
All things beautiful
I want everything
I want everything

You call us with your silent seas
You call us in our tiny boats
Gather us up with the storm
And cast us out upon the shore

All things beautiful
All things beautiful
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything

You're deep inside this fecund swamp
Or let it be your beating heart
You're deep inside this fecund swamp
You call us in our tiny boats

All things beautiful
All things beautiful
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything
I want everything

Anyone who likes this song is a verifiable Retard.

Umm, aside from the snarky bias of Retard (capitalized, no less, as a proper noun) what, exactly, is a 'verifiable' Retard?  Did Schmoogsley mean 'certifiable'?  Being 'certified' may put one in an asylum, but being 'verified' may put simply someone in, you know, Congress, or the White House. Now, Congress and and asylum may be one and the same, but technically, not really, so please be specific and accurate.  Nonetheless, nothing from Cracker is 'verifiable', but it is always certifiably very good.

What kingart said.
Love this one.  Thanks for the reminder RP!

It seems not. According to lyrics.com, the most likely candidate would be Rufus Wainright's Peaceful Afternoon, though that does not appear to be among the several of his songs played on RP.

Other than that, most instances seem to come from other gems such as:
Tantrix Sex Ritual by The Imperial Orgy
Following Evil's Path by NecroabortioN
Natalie's Got a Bottle, Yo! by Jizzo Belladona and the Cosmic Foxes

I didn't bother searching the RP library for those ones.
Interesting comments on this one
i don't dislike the song, i think it's quite listenable.
I scrolled down a bit to see if anyone had already said this, cause i'm sure i can't be the first to say -

This wouldn't normally be my cup of tea (or glass of Shiraz) but I like it.  Plus, Kerosene Hat is a really cool name for an album.
you want everything? Cracker?
damn, you want too much
I just want this song to stop
Gave it a 10 (after it sitting at a 9 for a while) mostly due to the phrase "You're deep inside this fecund swamp". Wonderful.

generally not a Cracker fan but this tune is hitting something for me today. just read a great old comment from someone who has left us and she made me smile and summed up the feeling nicely.

And answered by Bill. No.
Any song with lyrics that include the word "fecund" gets a 9. It's the law.
This really rocks.
I was a stupid man in 2019 when I refuse to wait to hear Cracker as the third band to play a venue, because their show would have started at 9:30  pm, on  a week night.

The good news: I went to an outside patio bar, met two young girls, who just came back from Bonaroo, and we had drinks and watch thunderstorms roll across the sky.

I wrote a subsequent essay entitled: "A moment of Time with the Virtuous Bonaroo Girls".   Their virtue is soming I call "Innocence and Curiosity"....a combitorial virtue.
I love that Bill plays Cracker :-) Captures such a fun time in my life.

I confess that I have heard it as feckin, which should work pretty well conceptually. I can see a fecud swamp as a feckin swamp pretty easily. Song lyrics are born to be misheard, after all.
Saw CVB and Cracker on the recommendation of a crazed fan. It was an amazing live show.  FYI I have also attended a Yoko Ono show and it was a powerful show. She only did the squeaking thing for about 30 seconds.  I appreciate it when people don't like the same music I like, sure makes it easier to get tickets. Although Yoko sold out three nights in LA. If liking Cracker is retarded, I am riding the short bus. deepwoodskev wrote:

You'd figure that anyone who doesn't like Cracker should probably realize RP isn't for them.
Great song from a great album.

Miss you, Cynaera.

This entire record is outstanding.  Hidden track #69 Eurotrash Girl is stellar.
David Lowery doesn't care what you think.  He knows, as do I, that Cracker is freekin' amazing.  That's all that matters.  Just ask Johnny.
Vocal harmony in the chorus is perfect.  They nail it.
Props to the guy doing the high harmony.

Fred is Fred.  One of a kind.  If you don't like one of his comments just wait 'til you see the next one.  Don't box him up with Stingray as an inveterate h8r and instigator.

That's just not fair to Mr. Riley.
Just saw them (well, Camper Van Beethoven opened ) last week.  Great band and a lot of fun.  Still sound awesome!
love this song... love Cracker.

saw Cracker a few months ago at a small  venue on a whim. I was really impressed with them. Johnny Hickman is one of the top guitar showmen I have seen. If they play near you, go see them!

Many a road trip listening to this album. I haven't heard this particular song in many, many years. Thanks!

This album was quite a surprise when I bought it new on impulse while on vacay in Guam from Ishikawa; turned out an all-time fave...

Not quite the same chord sequence as K O H D which is 1 5 6, 1 5 4, this song's just 1 5 4 and is a beautiful sound.

A really great song from a really great CD from a really good band.

The Golden Age in '96 was pretty darn good.  Then again their 2 most recent efforts, including the new Berkley To Bakersfield double disc offering, are pretty solid.  This band still has IT.

Another great song from a timeless album.
I couldn't agree more with Coloradojohn's post below. I'm consistantly blown away by this band's awesomeness and especially the brilliance of Hickman's perfomances. It's great to see performers for whome playing live is like a gift they give to themselves.
Great record! When it came out, there were only a couple or few songs I thought worth listening to at Jam Level. However, in the months and years that came after, I attained true appreciation for its brilliance. New Year's of 2013, when I saw Johnny Hickman jam it like the guitar god that he is right in front of me, with Davey wailing those playfully genius lyrics, I felt as transcendent as a freakin' Kerosene Hat...

I would be interested in your definition of a troll.  Would a political party that gets .000001 percent of the vote, yet barks and whines ENDLESSLY, be considered a party of trolls? Not to mention millions murdered under their rule and many wars fought over it?  Why is it if I don't like a song, I am a troll, but I come here for the express purpose of politcal agitation, I am an "honest poster".

The Canyons in Park City does free summer shows in their amphitheater.  Parkites, as the locals are called, are on Park City time anyway, which means late. Real easy to get a spot in the front row and Camper Van Cracker has played their a few times.

You really do grok it from the front row....
Hard to believe it's been 20 frickin years since this album! I still clearly recall how a couple songs blew me away instantly, a couple others hooked me within a year or so, and the rest over time grew so much on me that nowadays I consider the whole thing a masterpiece!
Love it when they warm up for themselves as Camper Van....

Encore un groupe influencé par Bob Dylan. Le solo est proche du gimmick de Knockin' On Heanven's Door.
Amazing Song

Is that some sweet guitar or what...
This entire album is amazing. Give it a listen sometime. 10 -> 10.

"A follow-up to their debut masterpiece, this collection brings more electric guitar-work to the mix in a way reminescent of Keith Richards and Mick Taylor. Full of catchy riffs, a stellar rythtym section, and open-throttle vocals, this melodic work represents what a four-piece rock band is all about. "Nostalgia" captures the wonder of the space age in an upbeat, contagious, guitar-woven gem. The intros to "Take Me Down To The Infirmary" and its sister song "I Want Everything" are beautifully sculpted phrases for which the Gibson Les Paul was created to inspire. The fun secret track #69, "Eurotrash Girl", is a live favorite. Three chords never sounded so good as in "Get Off This". David Lowery and Johnny Hickman harmonize to like a boy-girl team adding another sweet dimension to their songs."
Nice, and AMEN!

A supreme record all of the way through. Unfortunately they do not play in Western Canada nearly enough.  I love these guys.

One of my favourite "Cracker" songs. I like specially the guitar solo, but it has something special, I don´t know why. maybe this middle tempo, maybe the lyrics, maybe...I don´t know.
