Can't get no sleeves for my records
Can't get no laces for my shoes
Can't get no fancy notes
On my blue guitar
I can't get no antidote for blues
Oh yeah
Blues
Can't find the reasons for your actions
Or I don't much like the reasoning you use
Somehow your motives are impure
Or somehow I can't find the cure
Can't get no antidote for blues
Oh yeah
Blues
They say it's mostly vanity
That writes the plays we act
They tell me that's what everybody knows
There's no such thing as sanity
And that's the sanest fact
That's the way the story goes
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Blues
Can't get no remedy on my TV
There's nothing but the same old news
They can't find a way to be
One world in harmony
Can't get no antidote for blues
Oh yeah
Blues

Another example of when releases were great from start to finish!!!
That line, "Can't get no fancy notes on my blue guitar..." cracks me up every time! Still LOVE this song and album! That Red Rocks show and tour ROCKED!

Love Over Gold and Communique are my favorites. But this will do too!!
Oh horrors! RP just stopped for a few minutes and I thought about what we would do if it stopped permanently. I'd be lost without it.
I sent money last week, btw.

Excellent!!

You and a few tens-of-millions of others. This album used up all of the world's CD production capability when it was issued. The production quality of the recording made this album the one that turned the tide towards the CD and away from vinyl. I bought the CD too at the time, for the same reason of finally experiencing CD quality. Then I taped it on a "metal particle" cassette tape to listen to in the car! Still blew away vinyl, couldn't believe how well the CD sounded, even on tape.
I feel old when I laugh at today's vinyl-lovers. People are funny.

Brothers in arms one of the best albums ever

Same here. That could be why, back in the 80s, Dire Straits got an unfair reputation for being a yuppie rock band, as back then only the well-heeled could afford CD players.
only well heeled could afford CD players in 1985? I dont remember the prices dropping so radically in one year. I graduated art school in 1985. In 1986 I had a nice CD player and it came nowhere close to breaking the bank...

So did I. I have read in more than one place that this album did more than any other to establish the CD as the format of choice, post vinyl.

That's a funny coincidence. When I got my first CD player (in 10th grade), I chose this album to break it in.

This & Talking Heads "Little Creatures" were the first 2 CDs that I bought.
After 2 decades of professionally wrangling decent audio from vinyl (in a radio studio -- verrry different from a tweaky audiophile setup) I freakin' LOVED those shiny little things.

funky funky bass!
Great song for a summer night boat ride!!
First David Gilmour auctions off all of his guitars and now Mark Knopfler reveals that he's using Kemper profiling amps on tour!
Dire Straits
One World is 9 - OUTSTANDING to me

Haven't heard this one since a log time. Great album.

One could spend their whole life analyzing and marveling at Mr. Knopfler's work with and without Dire Straits. This is just one of many exceptional products of the Straits collaboration.
This album just keeps getting better.

Yep. And it's Bill's and Rebecca's station - they can play what they want. They do a damn good job too.
Some people complain because RP daily plays something from Mark Knopfler.
For me, it's one of the reasons I love it!

One of the best albums of the 80's!
A very, very amazing track that was often overlooked in the shadow of other songs on this stellar record from an amazing time for me...
Voice, affect, and phrasing all surprisingly mature for a 24-year-old.

Aye!
far from the best song on a great album, but given it's 30 years old and you're still playing it, speaks volumes.
Wow! What a blast from the past. Thanks,

I find myself liking the lesser-played tracks on this album better than the ones that made the airwaves back in the day. A 9 for me.

sweet set....great pickin'
Cool tune!
(to my untrained ear MK sounds like he's singing into a tin can)

I have not hear this song in well over 20 years! It takes me back
Forgot just how fun this song is!! No antidote for yous
I love the whole cd. Thx
I enjoy almost all Dire Straits, including this one, but there are many better cuts on this and other albums.
While I like a lot of Dire Straits material and have great respect for Mark Knopfler, this song just seems bland and almost annoying to me.
Wow... I probably haven\'t heard this in 10 years.
Clearly not their best... but nice to hear after so long.
Decent, but far from the best cut off this album.
