One of the great songs from Afro Beats in the 80´s It was drumming through all of the east, west african and european discos.  The americans expats sure know what I mean  Thanks Bill !!
What a pity to present only this "afro acid remix" version, which has little to do with the original! You can barely hear Mory Kante and all the instrumental backing vocals disappear in favour of percussion loops for this massacrethar has very little to do with the original! Sad...
Class, great vibe to this

Yes! I had the 45 and would play it on my Mickey Mouse record player. Circa 1972.

Every time this song comes on, I have to find this GIF in the comments and watch that girl go round and round a few times. It's just, like, what I have to do now. I cannot separate them. This is not a bad thing.
So I'm sitting here working, and I said to myself (speaking of the music I was hearing), "What is this crapola?" And now I know what this crapola is.

What's funny is that now that I'm writing this, Tori Amos's cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit is on, which I love, but I know many people can't stand.
African? Ummm, reminds me of an old time TV commercial for coffee made in a percolator pot. 🤷🏻
Dancing in my chair. Way peppy!
Despite the addition of more cowbell in this version, I still prefer the original.

Wow, thanks RP!

Thank you FGTH : Two tribes...

THIS! Refreshment from 1987.
Google translate gave me a slightly different result than one below.  I'm skeptical of the "burned salad" bit.

Bi sounkouroun heavy in the donkey ah ah
Like a newcomer to the donkey ah ah
I madji I didn't move
You can't leave me alone
I'm going to put my hands on it
Kanfalani burned the salad
Gnin kisse rejected the serra in them

I'll load the cassette
They're running lalé

These trippy rhythms and electronica touches are from 1987? Sounds fresh, like it was released yesterday. Me likey!

Heh, this reads like an attempt to transcribe a Pearl Jam song, lol
apologies due to Giorgio Moroder
Yes, his stuff was repetitive but never boring, like this

I tried my best to edit in sync on an online gif editor at https://ezgif.com/ after finding the gif on google. Not a lot of editing was needed though.

Time to go to bed. RP put me to sleep.
Afro Acid 12-inch Record?
probably noted already but Donna Summers "I Feel Love"
I really dig the trippy rhythms and hypnotic beats of this! The art on the cover pic makes me recall the Wayang Kulit performances I saw in Yogyakarta...
Still a 1 rating. It’s just annoying. MTC
Ok so this song by Kante is playing right after one from Kila and one from Kottke.  Starting to see a pattern here!

Hear hear. If Bill or Rebecca want to play it, it's worth listening to and finding something amazing about it. There is always something..
IDK. Maybe it will grow on me. I'll listen again.
make it stop. No one needs this to go on this long

One of those songs that made an everlasting impression in my memory. I was 12 years old when this was a huge hit in The Netherlands. Not a big fan of this particular mix, but better Mory Kanté in a weird mix than no Mory Kanté.
Oh My God I remember my friends and I going absolutely insane when ever this song came on in the "Lower Common Room" on Thursday nights.

BILL, HOW DO YOU ALWAYS PLAY AMAZING ACID MUSIC WHEN I'M ON ACID?

How big of a coincidence this is depends on how frequently you take acid. : ) Although it's been many years since I've last dropped acid, I do suspect much of RP would sound as great on acid as it does without.
This reminds me of Donna Summer - I Feel Love...

I know I sound like an old fart, but the original is so much better to my ears. I remember when it was released, I was eleven and it felt great to hear that kind of song on the radio.
Not that I dislike that version that much, but most of the addition feels like unnecessary wrapping. And I don't have a problem with remixes in general :)
F all 128 BPM shite. Mindless mayhem.

Forgive me, I play bass in a real band.

I see that RP has three! different dance remixes of this song, most with many comments that I agree with: PLEASE play the original version, 80's hit single.
N O .

Enjoy the LSD.  Do not do too much of it.

Instead of music, in your context may I suggest:  a babbling brook, wind in the leaves, or night breezes rushing across the volcano rock during an eclipse of the moon.
Holy crap, Bill! That segue from Afro Celt Sound System's "Further in Time" was BEYOND seamless!

Sweet.
More kora! (ok, ok, so not so much kora in this one...but I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea in the early 90s, and the kora & anyone whose Wikipedia entry lists it under "instruments" holds a warm place in my heart!)
I love this guy. Saw him perform in Johannesburg about 5 years ago and he was electrifying.
