And I'm slipping away unseen by anyone
The light is turning gray; the day is done
Water is so cold and heavy on my mind
I dreamed of walking with you but I fell behind
Looking for a road I could not find
And now the ice is stirring and spring is near
There is no one calling but the sound is clear
And though I'm not yet gone, I'm still not here
Afraid not. "Towards" is not a word. The word is "Toward". There's no plural or possessive form.
Depends where you live. Both are fine, but 'toward' preferred in the US, 'towards' elsewhere...
I bet he can spell though.
I first heard this at the same time someone I love dearly had just suffered a devastating loss, and it floored me.
I shared it with her at that time.
I think of her whenever I hear it and am no less moved.
It's Groundhog Day, all over again.
Things Behind The Sun - Nick Drake
Sun Song - Laura Veirs
Call It Dreaming - Iron & Wine
Going Back To Harlan - Emmylou Harris
Towards The Sun - Alexi Murdoch
LOVE the groove that this is making, but it may not be the best thing at this exact moment. I just rolled out of bed to start my work-from-home day on this mid-October morning, I'm still kind of sleepy & warm, I threw on an overshirt & sweats, I have a nice cup of hot tea to my right, this music is so relaxing, and ... I should probably try to get some work done. I just want to curl up & wait for this WHOLE MESS to blow over, but reality & responsibility must take precedence. Sigh.
"Towards" is a perfectly cromulent word, meaning exactly the same as "toward". (American Heritage Dictionary, 3rd Edition)
The dictionaries have given in to the common usage of the word. If it means exactly the same then use the correct version: Toward.

Guess you're special enkay. 95% of the people posting on this site make typos every single day in their postings. So do you.
disagree. nick drake is a donavon wanna and so on. they are distinct artists who can't help but be influenced by genius. that's why we listen to RP. the medicine wheel of musical evolution.
Took me a couple of years but now I appreciate Nick Drake as a lost genius - I thought this was Nick Drake (and that's a good thing)
The music isn't for everyone - what music is?
Who knows the future - perhaps your tastes will change
RP gives plenty of new artists, enjoy the ride
It's definitely a departure from the Death and Thrash Metal stuff that this guy usually does.
Wow. Got me feeling a bit choked up.
Better PSD instead
Everything fits, the tone the lyrics the feel. No shoehorn required.
Listening while I'm sewing. And I too thought it might be Nick Drake. Do I like this guy? Do I?
...who've drunk a large bottle of Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozy-Snooze between them

He is clearly influenced by Nick Drake, especially in the ways you mentioned, but there have been folk singers in the British Isles who have sounded similar to this long before Nick Drake was born.
Pro - Alexi Murdoch here. His music is evocative of wistful recollections.
I really like 'All My Days.'
I know what you mean. But it's a nice song nonetheless. Evocative and wistful. It's on my pod but one of these days I'll zap it. Not a bike riding or workout song.
Not sure about the whiner part, but (not that I can do better) his pitch is not very well controlled at all. Wonder what this would sound like run through one of those autotune devices.
I quite like this.
Me too! Just dropped in to make sure someone had mentioned the Nick Drake vibe. And they had. :)

Tuesday any better?
Oh, I get it.

I agree, I like the vibe of the song, but the wavering is unpleasant. He has a great song though, check out "orange sky", less shaky in the pitch.
I thought that was who it was--and It threw me off because I thought I had all his stuff. The tone of the guitar, style of playing, and the voice are all quite similar.
I was thinking more of Nick Drake. Regardless, I'll take the dull any day over the current obsession with 'autotune'.
Nice pairing with Darlingside. It must be a very interesting place with lots of music in Bill's head.
This is how a puddle sounds.
Lol.
Gawd, this is about the worst thing you could hear on a Friday afternoon.

My thoughts precisely. Me likey.

Like WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...??
Was gonna say this tune and performance are dry and somewhat dull...but after reading your comment...I somehow feel compelled to feel a bit differently now since you've shared such a tragic association with this tune. I feel your pain and know the feeling. Hope you allow time to heal some hard wounds.
Elegaic if you're in the mood, soporific if you're not. Music to go bye-byes by
Isn't it great when your tired and a great song can lift you?
when when blue it can resonate in the soul?
On a rainy day a song can blend in?
Isn't it great?
This song does none of this.
I agree !!

Should this not have followed ''Fink'' earlier... ?? apologies Bill lol
" One is moved by music that resonates with the frequency of your soul." (Mine, so no footnotes required :)
