The river is waiting
Come rise up
A new day is dawning
Come rise up
We be salin' at first light
Come Gather
Set our course for the crossing
Together

[Chorus:]
Sail on
Sail on
The river is waiting
Sail on

The river is waiting
I'm ready
To slip from this island
I'm ready
Gonna leave all my sorrow
Behind me
Lift my face to the new day
That's rising

[Chorus]

Don’t think I’ve heard this one before. One of the best voices in  rock imho. Rare to hear it in mellow mode.
Never hear it before, my loss. What a great song.

Some people like espresso, others like a little sugar and cream in their coffee. John Fogerty serves both.

I wonder if that's what happened to Marianne Faithfull.  The articles say it was "drugs" but I fail to see how drugs would change her voice unless she was smoking bowls of weed that were way too hot and smoky.

I think more likely it's that Marianne Faithfull smoked a lot of cigarettes.  Whether they were "funny" cigarettes - well, a gentleman never tells.

He’s sounding good on this gentle tune.
Kinda sounds like Adele on this song?

Agreed.  As a solo artist

Fogerty ripped his vocal cords up in his youth providing us some of the most memorable sounds in rock n'roll history.  I love his grinding screams, it made the CCR songs so gritty and soulful.  Unfortunately, it was an unnatural affectation to try to emulate some of the raspy voices of the great Delta bluesmen and it cost him. So while we won't be hearing him recreate the same sound, thankfully he has a nice singing voice too, and it suits this song quite well.  Like much of his later stuff, this is just a solid anthem of feel-good music.  Musical comfort food.

Happy happy song. Love it!

Playing with his sons quite a bit...
Just a little too sweet, still like it. A little lemon or vinegar might help, though.
Not a big fan of Fogarty post-Creedance  but liked this. Will keep my ears open...
GREAT ALBUM....    oh I love you RadioParadise!

Love this Fogerty song.
Also love the way Bill sequed into this song from Donovan's Catch the Wind.
Brilliant sonic maneuver!  It's why I keep listening to RP!
Yep love this
Listen to the lyrics!

As for my opinion, not enough drive or good melody.

Fogerty!. The very essence of American (male) youth - Center Field. Brilliant song, brilliant LP.

BILLG, Please if possible would you/could you slide some of "  Eye of the Zomby " on us? !! some of Johns best. thanks for any Fogerty
Good to hear him not having to scream the song... likeable melody. My first time to hear it, thanks Bill.

I too have seen John live.  He gets into it and obviously enjoys the stage.  I was never much of a fan until after I saw him live.

So wierd because so many other people really dig it.

I love Fortunate Son, but this song is like nails on a blackboard to me.

Plus

The album cover- is he the King of Wheat or something?

Um, about that killing spree - could you maybe direct it at Congress? And maybe not kill them but paintball the hell out of them? That might satisfy your urge to do damage.

I like this song, but I know Fogerty's got a LOT better stuff in him. Can't wait to hear it!

Saw/heard John play live last month - the man still plays a mean guitar, his voice sounds fabulous and damn, he still looks boyish in his plaid shirt.  I read that he finally came full circle with the old CCR songs which he once refused to play - by the sounds of his live shows, he is a happy man and is loving what he does.  Lucky for me and other fans who recognize his worth.  John, keep rockin!

Hmmmm, that would be an 8.5 but that's impossible, so....... a 9 {#Clap}

Yeah, that's it in a nutshell. I collect river songs and this one was a happy find
The world in general without John Fogerty would slip from a 7.3 to a 7.1
Guys, doesn't this song remind you of an ol' riff by Lou Reed in the 'New York' album? Am I the only one who thinks that this song is a rip-off from Lou's track? I can't remember the name, though. It's still a good tune.

A Cuban In London.
Soulful stuff from this old-school bad-ass rocker
I actually like this, what the Hell is goin' on out there????!!!!!!!{#Eek}

IMHO, he's by far the hottest of the classic rockers. He's actually gotten way better looking with time {#Hearteyes}
This sounds cheesy but I love feeling the ripple through my speakers!
i think it's really difficult for artists that have a distinct sound to grow, and i think he's done it really well with this song.

I love(d) CCR, but somehow I have a strong feeling their time has gone, musicwise, and will not return for a looong time... And this album stands not sufficiently apart from the old stuff.

Gave it a 6.

I agree.  I liked them when they were first out, but I usually change the station when they come on the radio now.  This one is just too boring for me.

remembered CCR!  Unique!  -

This tune could easily be forgotten on the album, but it really is a gem. Thanks for reminding it Radio Paradise. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see John on tour here in Helsinki last May. But watching him from front row in 2005 made me wonder: Could he be the hardest working man in rock music nowadays?
I thought a remix version of the MacGyver theme song was starting... I'm kinda disappointed.

Yes, remarkable, knowing he covered Heard it Trough the Grapevine in the sixties with CCR!

Beautiful. I don't have much of an appreciation for Fogerty. I lost touch with CCR after Born on the Bayou, Green River, but this is nice.

Well, since I uploaded BLUEBOY , I won't argue...
Nice timing for this. Caught parts of him pushing this tour on Soundstage on the tube last night; wow - oh - wow did it smell. I'm a huge fan of old CCR but his rehashes were just painfully forced and creepy cheesy.

Nice song, but not very innovative.
John really has that distinctive voice which makes the song. Just as long as you don't ask him about the time he got his tractor stuck in the stream on his Split Log Road farm ...

Hopefully John will get the money he should have gotten for his massive talent 'all those years ago'. Zanz can't Dance..........wanker!! Via Fogherty
First listen, first comment = good song, good to hear from John Fogerty again! :-)
