Say you to me
You're a bird with an eye for anything shiny
Searching the land
For a hero of a man
You say I need
More than my fair share of attention
But I think you know
That just isn't so

Underneath
I felt the fire of a burning question
Tearing me apart
Right from the very start
And now I see
That it don't take a trick of the light to excite me
So strong, so long
You'll see

Hold on
To what you
Been given lately
Hold on
To what you
Know you got
Hold on
To what you
Been given lately
Hold on
Cause the world will turn if you're ready or not

Simplicity
A heart of gold, an old head, and young shoulders
Quiet and lovely
Becoming part of me
And now I see
From a handful of names and a thousand faces
One light, burning, furiously

I was tired of January
I was tired of June
I felt a change a-coming
Oh... I was tired of January
Tired of June
I felt a change a-coming, oh
I felt a change a-coming
I felt a change a-coming
Felt a change a-coming soon

Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (Been given lately)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Know you got (know you got)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (been given lately)
Hold on
Cause the world will turn if you're ready or not

Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (Been given lately)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Know you got (know you got)
Hold on (hold on)
To what you (to what you)
Been given lately (been given lately)
Hold on
Cause the world will turn if you're ready or not

Oh yeah, well the world will turn if you're ready or not
Oh, yes the world will turn if you're ready or not

For a second there I had a flashback to 2003 PJ Harvey playing Dress at V festival looking a lot like Tunstall on this albumcover. Though Harvey's guitar is not shiny like Tunstalls bass, I couldn't shake the feeling the cover art might be a tribute or reference to Harvey. Turns out Tunstall is explicitly, and Harvey most probably, referencing Suzi Quatro

Nice song, 7 --> 8

Kinda forgot what a JAM this song is! Really jumping!

There's a billion Asian Indians that disagree.

There's 1.5 billion Chinese that disagree.

There's millions of indigenous people that don't believe you.

Then there's the atheists and all the other beliefs.

Stop thinking that you have the only answer. Surprise, you don't. The arrogance of Western christians needs to be eliminated.

Very charming onstage too. Warm, friendly, funny, talented.
Check out the cover version of Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For that KT Tunstall did with Pomplamoose (on YouTube). It's brilliant.

The word did give me pause when I first encountered it in this context, but there is the "in His image" thing.   And, too, rock and roll has always been about bombast.  I'm pretty sure I actually snorted when I read the back of the "Are You Experienced?" album sleeve.  Then I listened to the record.  The exception that proves my point.

Agreed.  Was curious enough to look it up a bit and came across the following from an interview in http://es.gibson.com/News-Life...

First off, what’s the deal with the Gibson Firebird on your album cover? It looks huge.

That's because it’s not a real guitar; it’s a prop. In my video for “Hold On,”
you can see me with an actual Firebird that's covered with mirrors; it
supposed to have sort of a mirror ball vibe. When we did the album
cover, a couple of props guys made me a mock version of a Firebird
covered with mirrors. They got the dimensions kind of wrong and it came
out much bigger than the real thing. I thought it looked great, though, a
little surreal, like an optical illusion. All the tuning pegs are
actually whiskey decanter tops, and the strings are necklaces and all
sorts of stuff, so it was a really amazing piece of work. It looks
great.

Prop guys messing up dimensions.  "Eighteen inches, right here it specifies eighteen inches. I was given this napkin"
Is it just me, or does the guitar look too big on the album cover?
Pardon my sexism, but nothing wrong with a pretty woman in a short dress playing an electric guitar.

I have no religious leanings, only some learning, but I do recall in 'in his own image' appearing in scriptures (Genesis 1:27), which surely allows us to use 'godlike'.

... btw you missed Eric Clapton off the list.

A big fan of KT, I'm excited to finally get to see next month. She is opening for Chris Isaak, another fave I've somehow never seen before. She is then back the following month by herself, might have to see her twice!

You are correct. Wiki says: Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist, KT Tunstall, commented in a 2008 interview that the cover photo of her studio album Drastic Fantastic (2007) is based on Quatro.

Nice to hear this again on RP. Saves me having to go grab my CD and play it for the third time this week.

{#Roflol} Mind you, it's difficult to kick arse when you're tottering on stiletto heels, and KT is one kick-arse woman, right enough.

This is really a very fine album, with all bar (IMO) the last two songs easily as good as this. And I'm a sucker for strong tasty women in kinky boots and wielding big instruments :o). 9 from the smitten Nottingham jury {#Hearteyes}

A year or so ago, KT performed live on the Bob and Tom radio show (which we no longer get, because the station's owner decided not to re-up the syndication subscription), and she was rather impressive. She had a device that enabled her to set a beat, do a looping vocal as backup, and sing along to herself. It was really neat.  She performed "Hold On," but with a slower, more relaxed beat which, in my opinion, added a lot to the song.  And, she's intelligent and hysterically funny.  So "Meh" is far too dismissive. Couldn't you have written something a little more erudite, such as, "I find her music dreadfully boring and unimaginative, and I'd rather be jamming red-hot pokers into my eyes"?

Just sayin'.....

Saw KT live in a small club in NYC recently with just herself, guitars and her looping device — first show trying out some songs from her next record.  She is is terrific showperson - engaging, funny as hell, good songwriter, player and excellent vocalist.

My wife and I will definitely be buying anything new she puts out and seeing her again anytime she comes to town.

It is pretty dire isn't it? If you do a cover like that it needs to be so bad that it is an obvious pastiche of glam rock or whatever - this isn't, it is just plain bad.
I am surprised that so much discussion has transpired related to this album cover. To me it's very clear that it's an attempt to be playful and is basically a joke. She looks pretty cute in it, honestly. I like the boots.
Great song! I like the production, and her voice is killer.

I like her voice. There's a spot right above the sternum that's hard to slide air in and out of that she as down has well as can be done.
I really enjoy what I have heard from her, but she is dangeriously close to creating a hackneyed sound. Hope she mixes it up in the future or she will quickly fade away. By the way, I don't really care about the album cover.
This gal freaking rocks! Great voice.

Think it's trying to be a clever play i.e. she is getting a big commercial following, especially in the UK... this plays to them and if you want to dig deeper you could believe it was ironic... either way I agree it sucks.

I thought that too. It's a pretty good song, but a virtual retread of "Suddenly I See".
It's the sort of cover that says "bargain bin."
