There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took
There are no boundaries set, the time and yet you waste it still
So it slips through your hands like grains of sand, you watch it go
There's no time to be lost, you'll pay the cost, so get it right
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
And never was there an answer, there an answer
Not without listening, without seeing
There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
And never was there an answer, there an answer
Not without listening, without seeing
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took

This album is GOLD!
Actually, it's probably Platinum by now.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, however comparing David Gilmour to Blue Oyster Cult? Are you serious or just hard of hearing?
The wise kink need to have some lessons in wiseness... Classics like the Blue Oyster Cult and Gilmore are obviously a little taxing for more than two brain cells.

you know, i can hear some of the similarities...similar time period and all...not that I think that's a bad thing. Go, go Godzilla!
Is this Unicorn?
It is. Originally released in 1976 on Too Many Crooks album as No Way Out of Here. Written by Ken Baker.
Who are the people in the background on the cover picture?
Bassist Rick Wills and drummer Willie Wilson on the album.

Well they did usually play on a stage as well, haha...
I enjoy this rubbish. Everytime
I remember the first time I heard Zevon's "Run Straight Down". My first thought was "wow, this is pretty good". My second thought was that it sounded strangely like post-Waters Pink Floyd. Went home and looked it up and found out that it came out in the late 80s and Gilmour plays on it. Well, that'd do it.
Theme song of facebook, the insane asylum without any walls, where the facilitators run data mining & social/behavioral experiments, and the patients are too crazy to leave !
He didn't say it "sounded like" BOC, he just said it was worse than them. Granted, I hear very little in common between the two artists but by definition, any two things can be compared.

QED
I first heard this on Space Pirate Radio, KTYD FM...back when FM still was independent genre (at least after midnight) By the way, the rest of the album is equally great, like all PF in general.
Had it on Wax 80's (Morninglory Music, now gone) Got the CD later 90's (Licorice Pizza, long gone)
Heard it on RP back in 2003, and Bill and Rebecca are still grokking it.
Waters is important, but Gilmore is quintessential.
Space Pirate Radio & KTYD! Man does that bring back memories. Lived in Thousand Oaks. My buddy & I would take my old VW up to a hill where KTYD would come in on the FM and listen to Space Pirate. It was the Radio Paradise of FM back in the 70's.
Public Service Announcement: Please pay for RP. Send them $5 a month or MORE. I give and we should all do so. Nothing stays free. Support Radio Paradise. (I'm not paid to say this, just a fan, who pays for you to enjoy).
Thanks for the reminder - just chipped in $10
rubbish, worse than Blue Oyster Cult even

Long Live RP and David Gilmour (he of no 'nickname') !!
I've heard him referred to as The Fender Bender, although Google doesn't confirm. Great player nonetheless!
So did i (bought it on vinyl in my teens)! And I too still have it. A great album
If you dont send support, and you are able....shame on you! You will be sorry when this is gone.

He's seriously hard of hearing.

Oh, and I just compared Gilmour to BOC ...
Sorry, what did you say? I was too busy spraying my yard for the wildfire wearing my pandemic mask to look for falling space debris during the riot...

@BillG...play more Gilmour, especially on Freaking days...on non-freaking days just do what you normally do.
Long Live RP and my fellow Pisces Mr. Gilmour!!
Thank you for your constructive, insightful critique.

The "King" has no clothes.
My sentiments exactly!
This is one of the albums that I have purchased in practically every form offered over the years, from the original LP, to cassette tape, to CD, and now digitally. Timeless music whatever the format.
Not that big a fan since no 8 track purchased? I'm joking of course! DSOTM is the album I've bought in more formats than any other, LP, tape, CD, FLAC and also NO 8 track....this one's a 9 for sure....Long Live RP and David Gilmour (he of no 'nickname') !!

Yeah, wise king of the lowered cases lands speak, he right. Although, being Queen of Proper Caps I'd use a stronger term. But eh. Getting less picky nowadays. Just gonna let him speak for me. This once.

A common misconception, but the artwork for The Wall was done by an artist named Gerald Scarfe, whose style bears more than a passing resemblance to Steadmans.
If the hills and forest of Appalachia are the 'backwoods', then what is an example of a place in the 'forwardwoods'?
Well all woods are good and Appalachia woods are some of the best sans the attitudes and thinking. But I needed out of those woods for me to move forward . So that could have been the backwoods of almost any other place to be forward. As it turned out, it happened to be the American West and back country of the Rocky Mountains, when I can break away from the daily grind.

I have two copies of the first US pressing. Make me an offer.
Ralph Steadman (born 15 May 1936) is a British artist best known for his work with American author Hunter S. Thompson.

This strange people do not have anything useful to do in your work day than spend his life to harass others?
Then do not complain that there is unemployment ... do not do anything useful, apart from these acts of censorship itself of monopolies?
I think David Gilmour and Music Community does not acknowledge these acts of censorship.

Damn...I miss that car...
Back in my late-70's on-air radio daze this got a lot of play. Still sounds great.
man - the moments where I feel exactly like this song are excruiating enough - i can't imagine a period of time where the feeling is so pervasive as to amount to mid life crisis......

yep, at least to me this RW vs DG stuff shows me that most of PFs best stuff was a collaboration of both...
Roger Waters is a great song writer no question but I love the sound of Gilmour's guitar and melodies, put them together and you got the best combination.
