You know everybody's fighting on with each other.
You got no one you can count on, dear,
Not even your own brother.
So if someone comes along,
He's gonna give you some love and affection
I'd say get it while you can, yeah!
Honey, get it while you can yeah,
Hey, hey, get it while you can,
Don't you turn your back on love, no, no!
Don't you know when you're loving anybody, baby,
You're taking a gamble on a little sorrow,
But then who cares, baby,
'Cause we may not be here tomorrow, no.
And if anybody should come along,
He gonna give you any love and affection,
I'd say get it while you can, yeah!
Hey, hey, get it while you can,
Hey, hey, get it while you can.
Don't you turn your back on love,
No no no, no no no no no.
Oh, get it while you can,
Honey get it when you're gonna wanna need it dear, yeah yeah,
Hey hey, get it while you can,
Don't you turn your back on love,
No no no, no no no no, get it while you can yeah,
I said hold on to somebody when you get a little lonely, dear,
Hey hey, hold on to that man's heart,
Yeah, get it, want it, hold it, need it,
Get it, want it, need it, hold it,
Get it while you can,
Honey get it while you can, baby, yeah,
Hey hey, get it while you can!
Get It While You Can...and be grateful about it.

I Agree!
I was taught that if you have nothing nice or good say, keep you trap shut. I wish Janis did the same. Nails on a chalkboard.
Obviously you weren't taught very well or didn't learn. Feel free to take your own advice.
That's a whole lot more "I didn't like this segue" than seems warranted.
Segue: Claude Debussy "Jardins sous la pluie" --> this. A sure way to invoke the Day of Wrath.
Did Trump get the Russians to hack RP?
Whut?
Just saw members of the big brother and the holding company last night performing in San Francisco. They had a great vocalist standing in for Janis Joplin not Janice, are really great pipes. They also had a kick ass female saxophone player.
Big Brother and The Holding Company on Medicare. Whoda thought?
u kinda have to, to hear it... the track needs a little gain

Janis was Solid Godlike
Thanks for this Lazarus! all this bad shit man, but gotta keep on keeping on
Lazarus is a true Rocker! Peace, love, drugs, RnR...in whatever order...that's his deal!
And yeah - Janis knew about the "Great Saturday Night Swindle" - Lazarus does too...and now so do you hayduke2!
Hope life is grand for you these days, Peter_Bradshaw... love this great classic song... here's a quote from Janis Joplin which is profound considering her tragic demise—
“I have, like, what anyone would call like, say, a loneliness, a loneliness of my own. But it’s just a private trip and probably shouldn’t be forced on other people that much, you know what I mean? God, fuck it. Who cares how lonely you feel. You just have to learn to deal with it like everybody else does. Everybody has that, I think. Everybody. Even Christians.
I remember I used to think, God damn it, it’s because I'm a chick or it’s because I haven’t figured it out yet. It’s because I’m not twenty-one. It’s because I haven’t read this or I haven’t tried that... Well, I’ve done every fucking thing and now I know better. There is no ‘because.’ And it’s not going to get any better.
There isn’t going to be any turning point... There isn’t going to be any next-month-it’ll-be-better, next fucking year, next fucking life. You don’t have any time to wait for. You just got to look around you and say, ‘So this is it. This is really all there is to it. This little thing.’ Everybody needing such little things and they can’t get them. Everybody needing just a little... confidence from somebody else and they can’t get it. Everybody, everybody fighting to protect their little feelings. Everybody, you know, like reaching out tentatively but drawing back. It’s so shallow and seems so... fucking... it seems like such a shame. It’s so close to being like really right and good and open and amorphous and giving and everything. But it’s not. And it ain’t gonna be.” —Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin and Ron "Pigpen" McKernan By High Steel Heels

One of the most famous headshop posters of all time, dated 1972. I bought this at the legendary (and now defunct) Psychedelic Solution in the Village, NYC. Janis and Pigpen had a brief romantic affair. Janis died in 1970 and Pigpen followed in 1973. This was taken in the late 60s on the steps of the Grateful Dead's house in San Fran.

Looks like Pigpen is ''getting while he can'' as he is cupping Janis's tit!

RIP
LOL
Except for maybe Jefferson Starship, and then there's Spirit, and Hendrix, The Who...oh, yeah, The Grateful Dead, and The Band, the group with that guy Morrison, Miles Davis could be there, too. I personally prefer Richie Havens...
What an awesome song & artist. Love Janis' work in any context. Peace be with you sister...
and I like mercedes benz
Not fond memories. It's the recognition of an artist who was able to pour her heart and soul into her music. I'll take that over the Disney-generated group of "artists" being trotted out today. All day long.
Hearing Janis always reminds me of a boss I had in Japan(thirty years ago!) who listened to Janis Joplin in her office. Shortly after she took over the job I was in there for whatever and remarked "If you follow that with some Allman Brothers you're gonna' make me think you're cool, Ma'am". She grinned and replied "I think we're going to get along well, Mr. Brown."
That's some kind of Zen: you don't need to become, or get something. You are right now already.
