Well I realize I've been hypnotized
I love you gypsy eyes
I love you gypsy eyes

All right
Gypsy

Way up in my tree I'm sitting by my fire
Wonderin' where in this world might you be
And known' all the time
Your still rollin' along the country side
Do you still think about me?

Oh my
Gypsy

Well I walked right on up to your rebel road side
The one that rambles on for a million miles
Yes I walked down this road searching for your love
And I found some too
But I found her I ain't gonna let go

I remember the first time I saw you
The tears in your eyes oh that girl's tryin' to say
Oh little girl you know I could love you
But first I must make my getaway
Two strange men fightin' to the death over me today
I'll try and meet you by the old highway
Hey!

Well I realize that I've been hypnotized
I love you gypsy eyes
I love you gypsy eyes
I love you gypsy eyes
I love you gypsy eyes

I've been searching so long
I think they made me lose the battle
Down against the road my worry knees
Off to the side I fall but I hear her sweet call
My gypsy eyes fine and I've been saved
Oh I've been saved
That's why I love you
I said I love you
Lord I love you

Good lord, haters. It doesnt matter if Jimi was the greatest ever. Listen to THIS SONG. Supporting the instrumental virtuosity of all 3 involved the production is mind-melting, and this was done in analog in 1968. Nothing compares to the Experience. Not one damn thing.

This song is sneaky great--it's taken me almost 50 years to realize it's a 10.

Oh wow, thank you so much for this track William! Makes my day.

They don't? Here are mine:

* Little Wing
* Who Knows
* Gypsy Eyes
* Hey Baby (New Rising Sun) - live at Berkeley

interesting Hendrix note: Tony "Paulie Walnuts" Sirico just died.
It was Tony who shook down club owners, most notoriously Steve Paul's The Scene. Well, Jimi, Johnny Winter, Jim Morrison etc all hung out there and the wannabe non-made gangster Tony Sirico relentlessly, brutally bullied and tortured Hendrix during his final days, suffering from a bad H problem. Great actor but not so much a great human being in his younger days.

At 9.1, the highest rated song I've ever seen on RP is Little Wing by Hendrix. I'll count that as my favourite guitar track ever...

Another woman who plays lead and sings is Carolyn Wonderland, local hero. Used to see her at Dan Electro's in Houston's Heights - little bitty thing with a big red hollow-body, blowing the roof off the joint.

Ms. Wonderland is good enough some guy, Robert Zimmerman I think, asked her to tour with him. Ray Benson and Bonnie are both fans as well.

Tragic, really.
One of only a handful of records that my kids automatically received. I won the double LP through a radio station contest in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1968. Been listening ever since.

I always liked the comment Eric Clapton was supposed to have said to George Harrison while sitting in a movie theatre...'I went to see this black cat from the US play and he is going to put us both out of business!'

Used to jam to this in the car 8 track player cruising up 95 from D.C. to North Jersey back in the day and would let the cartridge play over and over and over and I broke the tape from too much repeating on on this track. God I love this.

Not a very brilliant piece of songwriting though....

Holy Shit

                                 I was there.
In memory of my first favorite drummer...

John "Mitch" Mitchell  (9 July 1947 - 12 November 2008)

Mitch Mitchell, who has died aged 61, was the drummer with the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the last surviving member of the trio which proved one of the most influential bands in rock music.  Mitchell was a powerful force on the Hendrix band's 1967 debut album "Are You Experienced?" as well as the trio's albums "Electric Ladyland" and "Axis: Bold As Love." He had an explosive drumming style that can be heard in hard-charging songs such as "Fire" and "Manic Depression."

I bet J.J. Cale got inspired from that one for "Cocaine" (the song not the drug ).
Great song! The energy behind it is far more than some bands today.
