You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last

But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast

Yonder stands your orphan with his gun

Crying like a fire in the sun

Look out the saints are comin’ through

And it’s all over now, Baby Blue

The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense

Take what you have gathered from coincidence

The empty-handed painter from your streets

Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets

This sky, too, is folding under you

And it’s all over now, Baby Blue

All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home

All your reindeer armies, are all going home

The lover who just walked out your door

Has taken all his blankets from the floor

The carpet, too, is moving under you

And it’s all over now, Baby Blue

Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you

Forget the dead you’ve left, they will not follow you

The vagabond who’s rapping at your door

Is standing in the clothes that you once wore

Strike another match, go start anew

And it’s all over now, Baby Blue

I love, love, love Bonnie. But this is one of the worst covers of a Dylan song I know of. Sounds really forced. Sorry Bonnie. I still love you.

Wow isn't it incredible how differently people can hear things, I think it sounds so effortless and breezy.  I love it!

Bonnie Raitt and those who followed in her footsteps....  pure cliche.
one of the top worst Dylan covers. I’m a life long Bonnie fan but this rendition just doesn’t capture the zen of this song.

Don't know what an "American" voice is, but it is certainly lovely. BR can move from pure to scratchy and back effortlessly and always pitch perfect.
I LOVE Bonnie. But this is the second worst Dylan cover ever. It doesn’t connect with the theme of the song.

Never heard this version before.  Really beautiful!

Ugh.    One of your "weakest" posts ever, and that's saying a lot.

Bonnie Raitt is great; thiscover rates an eight!
Sadly, fake news is real, even when orange man says it.
LLRP all the same!
Surely, Shirley, Bonnie
should get at least a three
or better, maybe
an eight
out straight?
Love her love her love her voice!  I've been following her career since 1975 when a friend introduced me to her music.  I bought a lot of her LP's, CD's and seen her perform with Jackson Browne... she just keeps on getting better!
Love this rendition of Dylans.
The Animals play this much better.
Never been a big BR fan but really love this cover of Dylan’s song. More depth and emotion.

her slide guitar is so beautifully haunting
A good cover, really captures the feel of the song, I love the guitar in the background. Well done

The cockatoo is moving under you? Get up then before you kill it.
It's a great song. Also, I can't help noticing the similarities with "All Wash Out" from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. I wonder how a mash-up would sound.
Just great!!!

Says rp's antagonist-in-chief.  It's as if this "wiseking" person just waits for cheap and easy openings. "So tired" indeed.

Almost as good as Jerry's cover(s) RIP
Still in love with Bonnie after all these years. She's the only woman with Big Hair that I've ever found attractive.

Agreed -  Now that is a compliment, nice work Jamesat43

The never-ending tour's gotta be the temporarily paused never-ending tour, eh?

This is one of my fave BD tunes, and this BR cover is nice, gonna +1 to an 8 today.  Long Live RP and Bobby Dylan tunes performed by great artists!!

13th Floor Elevators? The band that formed when Muzak broke up?  :)
Not sure why I gave this a 5 originally?   It is at least an 8, like the majority of Bonnie's work.

i remember that! interesting, for sure.
Bonnie Raitt has never sung a song badly. If you disagree you are just wrong. :-)
Sorry folks, but this is a great version of this tune - mature Bonnie rivals even Joan B. when she's imitating Baaaaaaab, even.
Not so bad, like it.
So baaddd!! Sorry Bonnie. Where is the original?

I really like Bonnie Raitt's singing.
Everybody please request "Have A Heart" so it will get some 'net play. Thanks!

Wow, thought this was Lucinda Williams.

I have always loved listening to this song.  This is a nice cover...
Always so happy to hear Bonnie.
1 for Bonnie + 8 for the song;  not that I don't like Bonnie Raitt, but I think that those proportions are about right.
(oh and here he is, himself, following on!  (in this sequence, future readers.)

That's funny, first want to say I am no Bob hater, anyone who has seen any of my comments regarding him knows I am a huge fan, matter of fact much more of a Dylan fan then Bonnie Raitt, but there is rich irony talking about preferring Dylans voice over Raitts in any context!{#Lol}

Niiiiiice!{#Clap}

This is such an excellent song that almost any rendition is worth my attention. The Dead did this from time ti time and it always was a treat. Nice version here.
Lovely!

excellent version and tribute to the original of this song published for the first time in 1965, for the talent Mr. Bob Dylan, of this time brought here by the talent and distinct artist Ms. Bonnie Ryat  -

 ** 9 **

She sure sucked the life out of this song
I normally like hearing different versions of songs. But, in this case, I don't think this interpretation is bringing anything to the song. Which is a shame as I love Dylan, and normally like Bonnie.
Nice version, I think. Great song.

yeah, it's missing that edge of aggression... kind of a pity cos I think she's totally capable of it... this is so.. defeatist.

This is an amazing arrangement. Wow. Beautiful. Everything from the choice of instruments to the performance. Incredible.
OMG! She just makes my damm toes curl with this song!!

Yes, this is a good cover, but you just HAVE to hear "Time Has Come Today" by Sheryl Crow and Steve Earle from the Steal this Movie soundtrack CD. It is phenomenal.

I really like her cover of "That Song About The Midway". Awesome, would love to hear it now

Life is Bob. And he's playing here in Ottawa, capital of Canda, in a few hours from now. Van the Man performed here last night, July 4, 2007. Life is very good.
Best version... Van the Man w/Them
A nice version, but Van still has her beat.

hadn\'t heard her version before. most excellent.
Warm remake of a classic. This girlfriend can put soul in any song. Way to go girl!
I\'m not a big Bonnie Raitt fan, but this is a very nice cover of this song. Of course, I would rather hear Bob\'s version. :)
I never even liked this tune until I heard the new Bryan Ferry version; compared to that one, this version sucks...
Bare bones, but nice and heart-sung. Bonnie has to get back to her roots, rediscover the blues, the ghost of Lowell George, and the days before the synthesizer. If she wants to create, via paying homage to Dylan in this manner, so be it. :)
I almost always prefer the original. In this case, Bonnie sounds like a mature women signing this great song. When Dylan did it around \'65, he was still somewhat of a kid. I like the contrast.
 Clicked the wrong link. Sorry.
Not bad. However, IMHO, I think Hole\'s version is far better. :D

Of course that had to be Bryan Ferry.
On his latest solo album, Brian Ferry did a very (ferry) thrilling version of this song, much in a way he did Hard Rain with Roxy Music in the seventies. This rendition by Bonny Raitt is surely ok as well. Probably you can hardly go wrong with a song as fine as this one.
This is a GREAT cover. If this version does not move you, you are DEAD.
Sorta feels like a nice, smooth hit of morphine with a Demerol chaser. Good Stuff, Maynard!! Keep up the good selections, Phokes, RP Rules!!
RadioParadise could become an addiction for me and this tune definately enables. I love Bonnie Raitt.
Can never hear enough Bonnie as far as I\'m concerned. Great music to listen to while driving long distances arcross the interstates.
Righteous (and very sweet guitars coming from the left and right).
I like it: it\'s sort of luminous.
Anybody else have to read \"Where are you going, where have you been?\" in school?
I had never heard this version of the song before tonight. Excellent cover. Go Bonnie! Go Bill!
