Buckets of rain
Buckets of tears
Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears
Buckets of moonbeams in my hand
I got all the love, honey baby
You can stand

I been meek
And hard like an oak
I seen pretty people disappear like smoke
Friends will arrive, friends will disappear
If you want me, honey baby
I'll be here

Like your smile
And your fingertips
Like the way that you move your lips
I like the cool way you look at me
Everything about you is bringing me
Misery

Little red wagon
Little red bike
I ain't no monkey but I know what I like
I like the way you love me strong and slow
I'm takin' you with me, honey baby
When I go

Life is sad
Life is a bust
All ya can do is do what you must
You do what you must do and ya do it well
I'll do it for you, honey baby
Can't you tell?

I'd much rather listen to Neko than Bob even though Dylan often amazes me.

A lot of covers leave you asking "What was the point of that?" Not this one.

i was just about to say the same thing.  I can't stand his music.  But man, what a great songwriter.  Then you put someone like Neko on it, and I'm in heaven.

Awesome idea on the "rewind" button!

I'd rather take Neko home with me, thanks, if I have a choice.
Nice but Live in Austin 2006 is far superior having her vocals front and center with a much simpler sound behind. Just sayin'
Thanks Bill!

Plus, Neko can sing, and Dylan, well,.....
"And hard like an oak"

"I like the way you love me strong and slow"

Dang.
An 8 because Neko.
who wouldn't want to be God for a moment?
Liking the dobro. Liking the acoustic lead. Loving the voice.
Thank you Bob. Thank you Neko.
Up from 7 -> 8

FLAC on a good system .... clear powerful singing, tasty guitar

Another triple from R&B

OMG Bill knows I'm listening for surely Neko following Alison Goldfrapp is a gift to my ears. Thank you Bill!
Sometime in the mid-2000's after"Blacklisted"was released and I was introduced to Neko Case on ... Radio Paradise .... my wife and I went to see her / her band at the Wherehouse in Houston, TX.

Fantastic show. Don't know exactly why, but "Deep Red Bells" hit me hard and deep, and I've been a Neko fan ever since. "Night Still Comes" (" You never held it at the right angle..."), the duet "Sing Me to Sleep" w/ Fran Healy  .... I could go on and on.

Just one of those artists that takes me to another place, a reverie....

-- I suppose I should also mention her work w/ the New Pornographers, wholly different and satisfying music in its own way.
I LOVE NEKO!

I could listen to Neko for eight hours straight.  I know because I have.  Makes sitting in the back of a jet on a long flight almost tolerable.

MORE NEKO!

You got that right.

Only thing good about this track is that it is relatively short.
I love Bob Dylan, I love Neko Case (when not doing overtly country music).
I don't love Neko Case doing this cover, though.

In fact I positively dislike the combination, I hate to say it, but I do.
I heard this song covered by Guy Davis in a grungy bar at 3 in the afternoon when the sunrays made everything look scuzzy and infested with the sweat, body fluids and detritus of the city's humanity.
Consequently, I'm rather partial to Neko's upbeat version
I am not a fan of Sweethearts, and their voices, but this girl has a very good voice!
Yea for Dylan covers

That said, I'm really not crazy about the piano solo in this one.

the only thing that makes Dylan listenable is he tells a good story. So, naturally nearly everyone sings better than he does, though i have heard covers that lack the feeling of the story. 6 of one, half doz. of the other i guess

Neko's great! Best version of this song I've heard. :-)
that piano is as delightfully out of tune as Neko.
Indeed...Neko is the antidote to this song. It's the only way I can enjoy Bob Dylan.

Sounding very sweet tonight.  8.
Neko Case is a delight live, and down-to-earth. I have great memories of seeing her at Club Congress in Tucson, Ariz., before she made it big. Even though she moved away and slammed the city a little bit in the New York Times, we still miss her!
Bob Dylan wrote a great many songs others made famous.  He's a true genius.
Twirlin' in the kitchen. Do what you must do and do it well. Solid 8.
Nice lyrics.

Everybody in my church loves this beautiful cover originally from Bob Dylan's album Blood On The Tracks...

boy, yeah. i mean, i can about guarantee that neko did not cover this song because she heard it one day and said "ew, i can do that so much better". rather, i think she is paying beautiful tribute to a wonderful song by bob.

Neko Case vs. Bob Dylan?  I'll take Dylan's side any day, all day, dude!

Especially when it comes to listenability over the long haul . . .

No disrespect, bpkengor (people in glass houses shouldn't throw around witty moniker critiques) but I'm guessing you're in the camp of folks who don't like singers such as Randy Newman or Tom Waits because they are not necessarily the "usual" sound/tonality.

Give me singers like them any day.

And btw . . . I'm not in the "only the original writer's version is good" camp . . . for ex., I like the Jose Feliciano version of "Light My Fire" better than the Doors . . . much more listenable over the years.

But anyway . . . nice to discuss music with you, dude!

It's pretty good so I gave it a 6.  Dylan's original is better.

Yes agreed but depends on the listener but having said that they would make an interesting duet.
This version of Dylan's song would segue with George Harrison's version of Dylan's "If Not For You" very nicely.
alright, I give in: just bumped it to 10.

I agree with Dylan comments... My view is a bit more sexist... A guy's take on the words is different from a woman's... same words, different meaning...  her version wouldn't be added to the soundtrack of "Wonder Boys"...

Makes one think, which Dylan cover is better - this or Sinead Lohen's To Ramona?
Neko sang this on "Austin City Limits" and that recording is far superior. It's even more stripped down than this and it just sparkles.
Great song...for little country swing....yee haw.
@ toterola, yah a fine woman, she could sing anything to me.. but not this one. FILLER.

Yeah, that was cool, but what gives with that wierd piano bridge (out of tune, intentionally?). And, maybe, kick the nicotine and just fire up a doobie instead.
Wendy Bucklew did a great cover of this.  Neko... not so much.
I just love her, great song.
If it's OK with all y'all, I'm just going to pretend she's singing this to me ....
The front page of this group's website is OLD and sooooooooooooooooo wrong......
ACH, missed sweet Neko by a hair!
So sweet.

Love Neko Case, but this is not her best work in my view. I also prefer Dyaln's original - much more weight to it. This is a bit throwaway for my liking, unlike her own material.
