I am not the other, I am not afraid
I am not the answer, to a question we all have asked
My mind didn't turn, my memory stays
And my time may write, but it still goes up again

But if love is a hem in the breeze
It can have its way with me

My skin, it shivers, my hand, it holds
I can laugh full-body, I can come in from the cold
I set the table, I admit it's me
I made my own way to wait, but I still say please

I can write all the way off the page
But I can never answer myself
What's the use of these things I have made
They are cords into a realm
So I push through the dark to the earth
Have a future I can see
If my life is a hem in the breeze
It can have its way with me

Yes. Also kd lang.
Sara McLachlan sound-alike song
Like everything else I've heard by them, this is a stunning soundscape, crafted with love and attention to real feelings!
I likey!

It's not in 4/4 ("normal") time. I tried to count it out, but I'm terrible at that (typical guitar player...).

Any drummers want to clue me in?

7/8
I'm getting a Shawn Colvin vibe here. Nice.

From my drummer-son: It’s in seven, I’d probably notate it in 7/4. It’s a little deceptive, though. The guitar part sort of sounds like its gonna alternate from 7 to 6 as a 2 bar phrase but the whole thing’s in 7.

Driving me mad... can't neither.
Could this be coincidence Wye Oak after
"Like a tall oak-tree, alone and cryin"
in song lyrics played  before "It`s way with me" and  "The way i Feel"..

I think it is in 7/8 or split 3/4 and 4/4 intervals

It's in 7/4 (I'm a pianist, not a drummer - I hope that doesn't disqualify me)

What a treat!  Wye Oak are amazing!  If anyone's looking for a gateway song, try "Civilian".  Moody, subterranean modern Joni Mitchell swamp witchiness
ok this grabbed me — instant 9

List of things that do actually "go somewhere" yet are widely held in low esteem:

The Cross-Bronx Expressway
Season 8 of Game of Thrones
The intestinal tract of a cow
Phone number 202-863-8500
Spirit Airlines

Being a farm raised guy....one might give the cow intestinal tract a 2nd thought, next time one bites into a burger or steak! May be lowly esteemed but, pretty high up on the grocery list, if not on the food chain!! No farms, no food. And cows are farm staples!!
I can appreciate the other entries though!! Expressway....only bcuzza too much neglect and abuse of that complex transpo network! New Yorkers so proud...make that expressway something to be proud of too!!

Always makes me think of channeling Joni Mitchell...especially her Night Ride Home album...which is a good thing.
catchy and soothing
Her voice reminds me of Patti Scialfa.
Alanis Morissette after running out of ideas?
Beautiful.

A nice, contemplative song.  It may not "go" anywhere, but not going anywhere doesn't make a lake less worthwhile than a river.
