Something's beating on the wall on the other side
Strange lovers moan each others names on by-hour sheets for the very first time
One of them's James, the other's some name, she changes every time she lies across his bed
But the light of the moon leads the way towards the morning
And the sun, the sun's well on the way too soon to know and
Oh, oh my god, whatever, etc.
If I could I'd fold myself away like a card table
A concertina or a murphy bed, I would
But I wasn't made that way so you know instead
I'm open all night and the customers come to stay
And everybody tips but not enough to knock me over
And I'm so tired, I just worked two shifts
But the light of the moon leads the way towards the morning
And the sun, the sun's well on its way too soon to know and
Oh, oh my god, oh my god, whatever, etc.

You'd think that a professional musician would pop for flat-wound strings.

Hey, Dian Parkinson was from there.
The only thing of any value to ever come out of Jacksonville NC.
Well, except my sister's husband. He's a good guy.
Otherwise, a town that's two miles long and two blocks wide. If you're looking for strip clubs and used-car lots, this is the place. Too bad Tom Waits didn't visit during his hobo days.

What? The photo is nothing special, nor the layout, nor the typography. A smoking cigarette offers so many creative opportunities, but this is dull.
The cigarette isn't the point, it's secondary - it's his posture, his expression, the composition of the photo. The rumpled jacket, matching his hair, his slouching back echoing the stretched hand. The image looks very casual and natural yet very graceful and posed - tough to balance both.
The type isn't my favourite, but I like that it's in one simple sector at the top, and it's provides a clean contrast with the fluidity of the pose. The simple hit of colour is a good contrast with the black & white imagery.
But the way that hard vertical edge in the middle top and the hard horizontal edge in the lower left creates a sector for his head, hands (and cig) and isolates against the rest of the scene make the image for me.
And yet, with all this, it still looks like a casual snap-shot. Lovely work.

Add it to the list along with "ekspresso" and "ekspecially". I learned it all from my friend who went to ekxavier University.

I completely agree, and even with all the "misses" my IPod has more Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown than any other artist.
His live shows are an especially dicey proposition, but when he's on he's magic.
although I dig his general vibe Adams is a bit hit and miss. sometimes i can't tell if he's being introspective or pretentious; Gold is still my favorite album of his.

I dunno, when it's done in song I think any pronunciation is ok.....sometimes it can give a song character. When it's done in presidential speeches though it sounds terrible...hopefully the new guy is a bit more eloquent.

But then again, I piss people off by correcting their grammar.

Have you considered that perhaps you're listening to the wrong radio station? Nothing seems to please you.

To all you Ryan Adams fans out there: Pick up his latest CD, Cardinology. Overall, it's not his best work, but it's got a few gems.
Guess I'll continue to not buy his CD, and eckcetera.
I love this song. Thanks for ignoring the haters and playing one of the decades' most talented song-writers.

Good tune, fab cd cover. To any designers who lament that the cd cover is too small for iconic images...

We had tickets for the Oasis show in London, Ontario that got cancelled after Noel Gallagher was attacked in Toronto. As if that weren't bad enough, Ryan was opening for them.
Two of our favorites on one night up in smoke. We were hosed.

Why does this crap get played once a day?
Hey, how about doing us a favor and giving us a 24-hour "Ryan Adams-free" period, huh? No? Too bad.
that was a fantastic strap of music .... thanks RP

Yes! Someone that understands the genius of RA
Ryan Adams is very talented. His erratic behaviour was due (in part at least) to all sorts of things he shouldn't have been using. All he needs is a little quality control. There isn't a Ryan Adams album with at least one song that will break your heart. More often than not there will be many. Too bad he also puts stuff on that other artists would (perhaps) save for b-sides.
Yes! Someone that understands the genius of RA
I never would have heard of Ryan without RP.
I don't understand all the negative comments about RA - he sounds like a real standout to me. I hope we'll be hearing a lot more - thanks Bill.

Overrated hack! Most surely.Hmmm...
Listen to RP and hear Ryan Adams several times daily, or
Listen to ClearChannel and hear Bryan Adams several times daily.
Decisions, decisions... I don't know which is worse.
