Ask yourself
What do you think about us?
I was in the station
Working on something for us

You say your empty mind
Is easy when it's drugged
I watched you fall out of bed and scrape up your back
Well, maybe
This life is like the drug.
This life is like the drug.

(Yeah)

Ask yourself
What do they say about us?
I was in the station
Cooking up something for us

You say your empty mind
Is easy when it's drugged
I watched you fall out of bed and scrape up your back
Well, maybe
This life is like your bed.
This life is like your bed.

I've seen you fall between
Everywhere we go
They want to love you, baby
More than you know
I've seen the storm inside you
All through the day
I know it never leaves you
Not in that way

(Yeah)

I've seen your empty mind is easy when it's drugged
I've watched you fall out of bed and then scrape up your back
Well, maybe
This life is like your head.
This life is like your head.
This life is like your head...

Ask yourself
Ask yourself
Yeah, ask yourself

Not better than boring U2, sorry.
Truly great tune.  Nothing not to like.  Love it!
Knew there was something I liked about him (SU 74 & 76)

He does have an uncanny resemblance to Bono on this song…not sure if that’s a good thing or not, that said it’s a middle of the road song for me.
Love this song. It’s a go to for solid rock and roll.
Love Pete Yorn so much I could scream, and I'm not that type. Thanks for the song Bill. Just heard "I know it never leaves you" and now I'm signing off.
Loves me some PY anytime, anywhere... thanks, Bill
Like Lou Reed, Pete Y is an SU grad
Quite like it.  A bit Bowiesque, as reported previously.  But then, I thought it was U2.

{#Cowboy}   Thanks for playing this one, RP!  This is one of those beloved albums that takes me back to a certain place, time, and feeling so perfectly and poignantly.

Montville, NJerseys finest!

Did he hoist that drum riff from American Band by Grand Funk Railroad?

You'd have to ask his drummer.  It's just a drum rudiment - a 'flam triplet' or something like that - probably standard for an intermediate drum lesson.  However, I'm pretty sure that most rock drummers have at one time imitated Don Brewer's classic intro for that tune - it would probably be fun to sneak that fill in there when the rest of the band isn't expecting it.
Talented and sexy.
Where the hell is this guy now? Good music. Good live too.
Have always loved this! goosebumps!!

Too bad he didn't lift more from those guys.  They burnt it up!  (And I'm off to see what Grand Funk tunes are in the playlist.  edit:  Closer to Home.)
Did he hoist that drum riff from American Band by Grand Funk Railroad?
NICE!
Me:
Pete Yorn is like the Tom Brady of music. Hate him cause of his looks and his talent. A little too much good fortune for one person to have.

Wife:
Jealous much?
Hate this....no wait, don't really like it....no wait, I kind of like this....growing on me.... This Life is Like Your Bed...starting to dig this...ok I'll give it a 5.

Love his music and damn! he is sexy.
Sounds like pop radio.

I do like stuff by this guy. This one will grow on me, but the guitar calls to mind "Airplane" by Widespread Panic(?) in the opening bars. Then, when I hear the vocal, I am jetted out of undergrad bliss and back to the current era.

OK, I was wondering were I had heard that progression before.......
Different for Pete. I kinda like it. Some classic Pete Yorn would be nice too.

Did you really just say that he has "excellent hair" as one of the reasons we should like this artist or be listening to him? That's too funny!

Your handle is bowiefreak, you should now how important "excellent hair"is. Dave's had about ten different kinds—from the Hunky Dory scraggle to the Aladdin Sane proto-mullet. Image is all part of the package.

Ah, wow. This rocks.

Ha. Some places in the country commercial radio is so bad you can't imagine, completely Clear Channel sanitized. Where I live is a plenty liberal area just an hour north of San Francisco, can't get any SF or Bay Area stations here, just the worst dreck imaginable out here. If the song wasn't a hit yesterday it isn't played, and if it was a hit today not likely unless it's Third Eye Blind or Hillary Duff or some crap like that on every station. NO Peter Yorn, I can gaurantee you. I used to live in Boulder and commercial radio was better there. So results may vary!
Odd...I would never have guessed this was Pete Yorn. Sounds almost like Bono singing. I've heard some of his other stuff before, but it didn't really sound like this.
This life is like a drug, great line!!!!!

I saw Pete Yorn open for Crowded House 2x this past summer. he was good. he did a cover of that Peter Bjorn & John song with the whistling. Pete has excellent hair. and a fantastic drummer (Malcolm something?).

I like this song, but the reverb on his amp is gonna break if he keeps knocking it over.

Moving up: 7 ... 9!
I got this CD for Xmas and am really enjoying it. Good song.
Thanks RP for letting us hear great stuff like this that would never get on commercial radio, which REALLY sucks the big one these days. Long live RP and thanks again!
This one really has grown on me, and I think this is one talented musical dude with LOTS of promise... Thanks, Bill! for turning me on to it on RP!
I like this song, I like RP, I like the emoticons and the fact you can access and log into their website via a text-only web browser.
Ya I like this one more and more. I also happen to think that RP have the most fun emoticons

This is a very good song (8). The number 9 is often preceeded by the number 6. Do you get it now?
superunderrated talent. more people should know about this one.

Always a good show at the Tabernacle. Excellent venue.

Yes he did, with a slightly different arrangement. Excellent show all round....
Saw him at the ACL fest last Friday - literally a smoking hot show (including the nearby fire). They covered Peter, Bjorn and John's "Young Folks" - what a bass and drum workout!

I couldn't help but like the catchy 1st album; I've only heard singles from the subsequent releases...seem good, but with a somewhat predictable structure. What disappointed me (I must be spoiled) was that when I saw his 1st-album tour, he played in the same manner (I can live with that) and the exact same order as the song-order on the album. Did not change anything up, engage the audience, etc...In other words, I felt like I was watching/hearing a video, not a 'real live boy'. Could have saved my $ and time instead of buying the tix. (He is cute though.)
He's pretty outgoing at concerts now.. And changes stuff up a bit too :)

Groovy awesome bass line, to use the technical musical term.
nice...would have never known he made this song without RP...all they play on the CC radio is marginal compared to this track.

Dave Grohl really is the shit.
He sounds a LOT like Dan Wilson in the quieter bits of the chorus ("this life is like your head" is what I think he's saying . . .)
the beginning of this song always reminds me of "Lithium Flower" from the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtrack. she's so number nine she's incredible math just incredible math ...whatever that means...

Me too.
I ran out and got this album based on hearing this song - as usual, Pete did not disappoint! Recommended.

A bit confusing for me, this one. I wondered what it reminded me of and found out it's a song I used to play in a band, many years ago! The riff and changes are exactly the same. On Your Side that one was called and because I didn't write it, I feel free to say I prefer that one, though it was never recorded and produced as good as this Pete Yorn song.
Just what are you saying here mate? It doesn't compute to unravel your thread here so it appears superficially that you're ego tripping...sine qua non
Really am enjoying Pete Yorn's music -- all of it... good stuff.

This brings absolutely nothing to the table. It is the definition of banal.
