I often wonder why people go for gooey 'this love is gonna last forever' tripe that sticks to you like bubblegum (i.e. annoying). The tunes that talk about love that is a peculiar kind of ever changing thing and about people that you sense may not be around as long as you want them to be...oh, well - perhaps other people died first or got lucky! The melody keeps this from falling into the sweet thing the lyrics suggest

Dagnabbit! This is The Cure at their self-indulgent best, and it makes me wish I was a fat goth girl in a darkened bedroom, surrounded by Anne Rice books, and just finding out that the boy I fancied was going out with my best friend. Sorta thing.

Agree w you on lyrics. Repetition I.e. droning. common in bluegrass & gospelcana so you can hear the different harmonists. But I wouldn't mind more wailin either.

Oddly, I hear Cocteau Twins in this Cure song (which is new to me, never really a Cure fan but appreciative of some of their work). But I also was not ever really much attuned to CT prior to my Radio Paradise era. I'm not sure RP can be defined as an addiction, but maybe habituation.

Hard to believe that even the release of this B-sides collection was nearly SEVEN years ago. I bought it in Strasbourg before (or after?) a concert... I think it was M83 touring after their first album. Can't be sure though. Time flies.

Or maybe it's just that I hadn't heard this in many years and it takes me back to a time when I was unhappy a lot of the time and consequently spent a lot more time listening to the Cure than I do now.

Still the greatest, after all these years.

...in spite of RP's usual playlist depth, i'm fairly surprised to hear this obscure b-side!..it's not a bad song by any means, but neither does it particlarly stand out amongst the cure's repertoire... ...regardless, great to hear, although it always irks me when b-sides are attributed to latter-day compilations rather than the original singles on which they were released...i'd much rather see the cover art for high...
