Ryan Adams — This House Is Not For Sale
Tell them that the house is not for sale.
We're still livin' here, how come nobody can tell?
They're taking all the furniture, movin' our things.
Come on little honey, put your head on my knee.
Tell them that the house is not for sale.
And calm down, calm down, calm down
Calm down, calm down, calm down
Do you remember when we even bought this thing?
I danced you across the wooden floor and then you signed the lease.
What happened in the car that night? What happened in the car that night?
Tell them that the house is not for sale.
Calm down, calm down, calm down
Calm down, calm down, calm down
Calm down
Tell them that the house is not for sale.
We could grab a couple sheets and give them quite a scare.
I remember lyin' on the bedroom floor,
You were holding me honey, kissing my soul.
Tell them that the house is not for sale.
And calm down, calm down, calm down
Calm down, calm down, calm down
Calm down
Calm down
We're still livin' here, how come nobody can tell?
They're taking all the furniture, movin' our things.

And calm down, calm down, calm down
Calm down, calm down, calm down

Too weird. We posted at the exact same time.
This song has to be about Adam and Barbara from Beetlejuice, right?

OK. I usually like more "depth" to my music, but this really appeals to the superficial sentimentalist in me.
Lyrics are real hollow. Wonder if there's any furniture inside.

Can't believe anyone actually thinks this! Just crap if you ask me. Not at least in comparison to his first albums, which I love (Heartbreaker and Gold).
"prolific"- websters- adj. reproducing rapidly in large numbers.
Don't quit your day job. In fact, take on some second shift work.

It is good to know that I am not alone.
He did a really haunting version of this song when I saw him in concert. More from Ryan on RP would be wonderful.

Good Song!! BTW - Does anyone have a three bedroom house for sale in Redondo Beach, CA =) Joe G "Bear"
No, but I have a two bedroom house a short bikeride up the beach in Playa, of course This House is Not For Sale.
Of course, I'm always willing to entertain offers for it at Boardners ((click here)).

The chorus reminds me of Bruce Springsteen's "The River"

Nice song, thought it was Paul Westerberg though. Fooled me again RP.

I really want to like Ryan Adams. I mean, I've tried ... I just never end up liking him as much as I think I do. At some point, this relationship is just going to have to end.
Does that make sense?

Ryan Adams, Badly Drawn Boy and The Eels - are these alternative in the states? These are all mainstream in Europe. How about someone not on a major label? Damien Rice, Autamata or The Tycho Brahe for example :-) Love Radio Paradise - so glad I found it - keep up the excellent work!
alternative enough... that NOT ONE mainstream fm station plays any of the artist you mentioned.

They must have broken up on good terms if you still like RA's music. Even without the sentimental attachment, I like it!

Ryan's put out a lot of stuff over the past couple of years. This EP is really one of the best things he's done. Thoughtful songs, great melodies, energy, etc. Me likie.
