If you've got a picture of your face
Could you leave it on your way out the door
I don't care if it's color or black or white
I just need something to remember you by

Oh, before my life went dim
Oh, before my life went dim
No one told me the trouble I was in
Before my life went dim

I painted half my face green
Don't you know I painted half my face blue
In hopes of showing you
Both sides of me, both sides of me
I guess it came down to
Don't you love me, don't you love me

Oh, before my life went dim
Before my life went dim
No one told me the trouble I was in
Before my life went dim

Can't this car go any faster
Can't this car go any faster
Can't this car go any faster
Faster, faster
Can't this car go cause I can still see where I am

Oh, before my life went dim
Oh, before my life
Before my life went dim
You should have told me
The trouble I was in
Before my life went dim

This band is the BOMB!!  So much more than just Dizz Knee Land the college hit from the early 90's.  I have all their lp's as well as 2 of the 3's side project, "Butterfly Jones".  Gurley's guitar playing is blazing and their harmonies are almost Beatle like.  This trio is amazing!
Solid 10.
Never heard this before.  Big thumbs up!   Thanks, RP for brightening my evening with this great tune.
"Friends" theme song
What a great song. I'm surprised it only rates a 6.6. Great band, too. Michael Gurley is an outstanding guitarist.
10 for the kick ass guitar riff, minimalist lyrics and great band name.

Dada actually began as an anti war protest through art, music, poetry and other mediums.

David Bowie adapted William S. Burrough's cut-up technique for writing lyrics and Kurt Cobain also admittedly used this method for many of his Nirvana lyrics, including "In Bloom".

I LOVE that you play this song!

I didn't know music had an expiration date.
Mozart must be really outdated at this point...

Don't forget "horribly", who says that anymore?
This is one of those rare albums...right time, right place...that I loved every track the first time I heard the CD.  I still love it.
Heard these guys at Smith's Olde Bar, Atlanta September 2017.
25 years later, they we're exactly excellent, sounded exactly the same.
Phenomenal band.
Whenever someone slags off a really good track like this I have to give it a ten to make up for the dorks that might give it a 1.
Reminds me of Thin Lizzy with out Lynott
Power trio who harmonizes?  Love them!
so much music to look back on and look forward to, not enough time
Not to be confused with the band, Sonia Dada.
Intro reminded me of Foo Fighters - Generator and I thought 'huh, this might be some cool cover' and got excited too early.
Tapping anyway.

I remember listing to this a lot *right* before neverminded went big, then I never listened to it again. This is what "rock" sounded right before Nirvana.

So I kinda get the "Outdated" comment. It really sounds like a specific point in time, cuz no body had this kinda sound before, or after. It's a "lost" sound.
Very cool guitar riff.  The obvious but so welcome hook.  I play this at band practice as a warm up, never gets old.
This album, linked to a close and important moment and relation in my early life, is deeply carved in my heart...
I personally think this album was stellar pop. The track "Dorina" is the best on the album.
Addictive guitar riff. A 9 all the way.
Go away Dizzneeland. This song should have been the hit.
I'm in the outstanding and underrated camp.  Saw them live many times back in the day and they would blow the roof off of the place.  This Ken Scott produced sophisticated power pop from '92 exemplifies that unique debut album magic.  They have some cool stuff on their subsequent albums, try the sublime "Guitar Girl" and "What's Happening To Steven" from the outtakes album "How To Be Found".

This album was produced by the great Ken Scott who also produced some of my favorite fusion albums including the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Michael Gurley is a damn fine guitarist -

See also "Butterfly Jones"

Awesome song.  Also loved "I'm going to Disney Land"

Thanks Bill Great Album from Uni days in Boston.

I beg to differ!  Dated, but NOT outdated.  A nice quick blast of the early 90's, when pop music still had guitars!
Horribly outdated sound.
Haven't this on RP for a long time.  Thanks, Bill!  And more Dada, please.  {#Bananajam}
Ah, the algorithms behind PSD.....
A pleasant discovery--thank you, PSD button!!!!
This is an awesome album - although this is my favorite cut.  I got here with PSD....we need more Dada in regular rotation!
Wore this out!! Can't believe, 17 years ago !!!!

Wait ... wait ... did you just compare Dada to Porcupine Tree?

Nobody tell Deadwing ... she'll blow a gasket.

Only for their lack of deserved acclaim for very enjoyable music.  Two wildly different genres of course.  It's too bad the world only got to hear the cheesy radio-pleasers.  The rest of their work is very good.  The guitar work live is awesome.

This song brings back memories of rollerblading down the county roads of MN back in high school... /Nice reminisce
Pretty cool. 6 -> 7

Yes, aptly titled, my view of this song exactly. I presume these guys have done better work and this is just one of the filler songs that Bill occasionally plays to round out the RP repertoires of one-hit wonder bands.

eyup. They just pretty much stick to playing around their stomping grounds of Orange County, CA.

Yes, "Dorina" please. Great to hear Dada here!
I'm liking this...I thought it was Toad the Wet Sprocket at first though...
Excellent! great to hear my favorite band on RP. Saw them live twice and was truly impressed with how good 3 guys can sound live. Check out their website: www.dadatheband.com
Totally great CD cover to cover!
identikit alt-rock
love this song. saw these guys at the taste of minnesota circa 1996. wasn't even a main stage.. some little side thing with about 100 people there. 10 years later and it's a miracle people even remember them.
Just one of their best songs. IMO, a severely underrated band.
these guys have so much energy live you get tired (in a good way) just watching them.
I just flipped off president George, I'm going to Disney Land
Yeah Baby-Great to hear Dada being played on my favorite radio listening place.Like others have mentioned, i've kept them to myself for many years.I have all their albums. Are they still around? Yes and No.They are now called Butterfly Jones, and they still sound like Dada. They have 1 album out called Napalm Springs https://www.vanguardrecords.com/Butterfly/bio.html https://www.vanguardrecords.com/Butterfly/Napalm.html
Not a bad tune but really, really generic.
If Nils Lofgren could have found these mates life would be devine. Dada Dada Mama Mama WOW

Ditto that
Good stuff, Maynard!
GREAT song and GREAT album! Thanks, RP!

Awesome Song, Awesome Band Can't this car go any faster?
Haven't heard these guys in a while. They rock. Need more Dada.
I've NEVER gotten tired of this album. Every song rocks.
So many good songs on this album! Would love to see Dorina or Who You Are added.
never heard this before...it's rockin'! I can't give it a 7.5, so I'll round down, just like they taught us in grade school math.

Interesting to see the unanimous enthusiasm for this. Not to go negative here, but the only thing that really stood out to me was the unintentionally comic alternate reading of the "car go faster" line, which I couldn't help hearing as "Does disco go any faster?" To which I thought, well, not really.

Same here. Nice one from what has become a blur of good tunes off decent radio. (pronounced WXRT) "Can't this car go any FASTER??"
WOW! I thought I was the only person that had this album. This is an excellent tune! Their album "El Subliminoso" is also great. I love the mix here at RP. Great job Bill!
Love these guys!!!!!!...and would love to hear Posters and that "Timothy" song from this album, too... :D
Did I say I liked these guys!!!...checking for "Dorina"

Uhh...your welcome. 8-< I am excited to see a lot of other Dada fans out there. IMHO there is not a bad song on this album. I have never understood why they never received the recognition they deserved. They had it all going for them. Tight sound, wonderful vocals and well written lyrics. On the other hand, except for Dizz Knee Land, since they never saw much radio play I felt like I was keeping them all too my self. There is nothing I hate more then finding a new song or group that strikes your fancy just right and then a month later, turning on the radio and hearing them all over the bloody place. Before you know it, you can't stand to listen to them any more.
Enjoyning the lyrics and the energy of this one. Thanks for uploading it.

I'm not sure I like this - I do know it hurts my ears...I have headphones on right now. I'll keep an open mind....perhaps, next time RP plays them I'll like Dada better.
Glad to see lots of other Dada fans around. I've seen them many times and never been disappointed. I enjoy all of their records and they are a great bunch of guys to boot. Yet another talented band ingnored by mainstream radio.
Get the CD, you won't be disappointed.
Right on, fellow RPer's! Great band. Time has been kind.
Great song I hadn't heard in years. Thanks for the reminder to dig this album out.

They're kinda like a new, alterna Steely Dan with the lyrics.
First time I hear them. Catchy !
I heard the guitar lead in and I couldn't believe it! I just cranked it! Great to hear these guys again. They're back together and recording/touring, BTW. They're on a fairly big tour this summer. Check their website: www.dadatheband.com
