It's the darkest hour
Of the darkest night
It's a million miles
From the morning light
Can't get no sleep
Don't know what to do
I've got those midnight blues

When the shadows fall
I feel the night closin' in
There must be some reason
For this mood I'm gettin' in
Can't get no sleep
Don't know what to do
I've got those midnight blues

Every evening after sundown
As the light begins to fade
I feel so low, but I just don't know
Why these blues won't go away

Every evening after sundown
As the light begins to fade
I feel so low, but I just don't know
Why these blues won't go away

It's the darkest hour
Of the darkest night
It's a million miles
From the morning light
Can't get no sleep
Don't know what to do
I've got those midnight blues

I've got those midnight blues
I've got those midnight blues
I've got those midnight blues

Huge Gary Moore fan, but this song just doesn't do much for me. Especially after listening to some of his live stuff.

Yeah, lousy guitar playing to boot . Get real!
I'm really surprised that this is the only Gary Moore song on the site.
Oh this is good
Robert Cray and Gary both had the Blues real bad! So Bad it was surely too GOOD!!

I can beat that - I saw him playing as The Gary Moore Band in the Students Union of Queens University Belfast in the early 1970's.  He was just standing in a foyer area (no stage) playing that lemon coloured Les Paul.  Yes he did a bit of face gurning but sometime later he was very badly scarred by someone who stuck a broken bottle in his face in a bar fight. Gary was my second guitar hero after Rory Gallagher.
Not overly fond of commenting on people's appearance, but y'know, if it's really funny...

I did once hear someone say Gary Moore's face "looks like the back of a welder's bench".

Sublime! A really talented guy and a great loss. Another great album Gary put together to help Peter Green at a difficult time was "Blues For Greeny" look this one out.

Thanks - I'll definitely check that out.

I remember seeing Gary play a few times and indeed. . . I was once a roadie on the lighting rig when Thin Lizzie played in the UK. . . a LONG time ago.

I have now found he only lived a 5 minute walk from where I live when he died and I had no idea. . .

RIP Mr Moor.
Gary rocked in Thin Lizzy, too.  Also check out Colosseum II, where he plays great Jazz/Fusion.   Gary seems more at home with that than with the Blues, IMHO.
So very sad. I liked the rocking Moore more than the Blues from him. But both were right. The best Album for me from Moore is "Gary Moore Band-Ginding Stone 1973- RIP Gary.

It is with deep sorrow and regret, that we have to announce that Gary Moore passed away while on holiday in Spain last night.

Our thoughts are with his children, family and friends at this sad time.

Gary Moore, RIP

1952-2011

One more masterpiece I love this one
These blues are giving me the blues.
Check out "Crying in the shadows" from the "Wild Frontier" album for another very nice bluesy number from this guy - or "Over the hills and far away", from the same album, for a tighter, rock-ier sound.

Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gary Moore (all great), how about some Robert Cray?!!!!
GOOD CALL!
This song is incredible, brings out the best of the blues instrumnets! Great voice too!

Amazing.

Gary Moore is a technically brilliant guitarist... he hits all the notes very cleanly, has excellent runs and progressions, but where's the FEELING? The Blues is all about feeling, man. Gary Moore is just too sterile!
I don't know... sounds pretty good to me. But then, I am not a blues aficionado either. Nice follow up to the previous Stevie Ray Vaughan piece!

Oh so nice. A sound with a real feel to it.
Gary Moore is a true legend and an icon. I love this song but " Parisenne Walkways" is still my favorite.

One of my favorite albums
Awesome! Thanks for playing it Bill! Btw, "Blues for Greenie" was the tribute album to Green.

If you like early Fleetwod Mac Jumping at shadows is a great tune.
Thanks for that nice bit of history there. If you could see the albums at the kid's feet on the cover, one is John Mayall's 'Hard Road' with Peter Green. Gotta dig the Hendrix poster as well.....

no that should read "moore or less"
Quite enjoyable. Love that blues guitar.

Hi fred..the album has got to be "GARY MOORE:BLUES ALIVE"! which is absolutely stellar!
WOW! SRV's RIVIERA PARADISE and then Gary Moore's MIDNIGHT BLUES!!...back-to-back?...on a playlist? and here I thought the only way to accomplish that was to program my iPod that way!!! Now why can't FM radio do what BillG does?!?!?!Great tunes!
Beautiful image coding_to_music! I just commented in Stevie Ray Vaughn minutes ago about reminding his music to Gary Moore, and now it's the next to be played. Wonderful. Thanks for this seque.
Kinda corny lyrics, no?
Life got you down? Wait until you hear this song....

I just listened to Gabriel's Up album. "Sky Blue" is remarkably similar, though rather muted, as PG has been recently. Yes, "Sky Blue" doesn't pursue the blues treatment, I know, but give it a listen. How about a side-by-side, Bill?
So, Moore IS less.
So THIS is the song Dire Straits was mocking.... Sad thing is... I'm not sure I would think any different of this song had I not heard 'Millionaire Blues.'
It's probably a great song, but right now, it's depressing the heck out of me.
I have a live album that he made that I like a lot. I couldn't find it or I'd tell you all what it is.
I got the album, and I think the title song is the best. There's no harm in listening to the other songs. Smooth, easy going blues. Great car music. Prevents you from speeding.
I remember this was a big part of one of the many revivals Blues has known. Of course he's an impressive player, especially in the hardrock style, but his interpretation of the blues leaves me cold. Also due to the slick, (over)production.
I wouldn't be crushed if I never heard this song again... I rated this song low due to its perceived inability to defeat Bush in the general election.
Excellent Gary Moore album. Worth purchasing... (through the amazon link of course).
Good voice, great guitar and just about as ugly as Tom Petty.
Very sexy, very smooth. I like it!
