Forget all your little problems
Forget the boy you left at the bar
I got a stash been savin' for months now
California's not very far
Come on lady
Take this bum and make him right
You're my steady
You're the one who makes me feel
Sunshine
One that makes me feel sunshine
I wanna be your baby daddy
I wanna be your self-employed
So pack up the van and we'll go driving
To the coastal state
Uh-huh
Come on lady
Take this bum and make him right
You're my steady
You're the one that makes me feel
So come on lady
Give this bum a sense of pride
You're my steady
You're the one that makes me feel
Feel
Sunshine
One that makes me feel sunshine
One that makes me feel sunshine
One that makes me feel sunshine
Forget the boy you left at the bar

Always grabs my attention - love this track - so catchy in a great way!

This song fools me everytime. I hear that catchy rhythm and automatically think Dandy Warhols. Then I have to check the playlist and lo and behold, it's this Josh Rouse guy! How could anyone not wanna move to this song? It just made me want to get dressed and go for a walk in the snow. If that's not persuasion, I don't know what is. Haven't heard the whole CD, but if there's even one more song on it that's as infectious and cheerful as this one, I'll buy it.

I'm a big fan of Josh Rouse- kind of underplayed on here, I think. The album "Nashville" is my favorite- but his whole catalog is worth listening to IMO. This is a really good album as well- nothing is going to knock you out, but it's a great listen. Subtle and rewards multiple listens- if you're into that kind of thing.....

I love that Bill just segued from Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come (from 1972) to Josh Rouse's 1972.

Hi I was around in 1972 as a 12 year old and I don't know just what it is about the album "1972" but id DOES sound like, well 1972. It sounds how 1972 felt, I think. I have listened to it a myriad times and it still does that '70s thing to me. WonderLizard wrote:

I agree we need more Josh Rouse. His 1972 album has to be heard from start to finish and weirdly, it does feel like 1972 (the year he was born).

Why isn't Josh a bigger deal? So consistently good over the course of many albums.
Fantastic, and not even the best song on this album; a masterpiece that has never fully gotten its due.
Josh!!
Fantastic artist, nice bloke as well.
Straight 9, no 10 because he has many other songs topping this one.

Just saw him at the City Winery in Chicago. Fantastic show, great setting. He has a great band backing him up. Really tight.

Bumping it to 9, because I'm not just tapping my foot - I'm dancing. And wow - I have some MOVES. (Where'd those HIPS come from?!) Thanks, Josh Rouse - I think I just found a workout routine that will work for me. I love Sunshine.

I love the drums at the beginning of this song. And it makes me tap my foot and grin. Yeah, it's lightweight, but it's FUN. And perfect for a sunny afternoon... Hey, I'll take anything happy-making these days!
I dig..
I'm always amazed to read such rabid comments about perfectly nice songs....WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT!!!!??? Led Zepplin, Beatles?& Pink Floyd 24/7?

Does not work for me.
This happens with great regularity: I hear a nice song on RP, just nice enough (or better) that it makes me look to see who it is. It's not unusual to see that it's Josh Rouse. I have a couple of his CDs but I guess I don't listen to them enough.
Unusual histogram...
Ooh, nice to hear this again!
Rather an enjoyable album... It would be nice to hear "Rise" on RP.
bill watts happen to you?
It's no easy thing to make music in the styles that were common the year you were born. Rouse pulls it off well on this album.
Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Rouse could sing me the phone book.
I love Nashville too.
Great record.
Ugh, gets on my nerves. Couldn't care less about the "baby daddy" line, but that annoying whatever-it-is instrument grates on my nerves.
Mann--Josh Rouse is so consistently good. Why doesn't everyone know that?

Not usually a fan of Rouse but this song is just made for .. well .. sunshine. It's 68 and sunny in Michigan today so this works fine.

Loved this song from the first time I heard it, and so I gave 1972 a spin at the record store to see how the rest of the album was.
Was not as impressed by the balance of tunes on it. Too bad--if the rest was this innovative, he'd have a hot property there...
Did I judge it too quickly? Has any one out there heard more off of this disk that is also good?
Funny, I just discovered Josh Rouse a couple of weeks ago and got this album from iTunes. I've listened to it a lot over the last few days, and I really really like it. It's all in this vein - a little campy, but very pretty harmonies, catchy tunes, and smart lyrics ("baby daddy" notwithstanding).
Nöt slacht!
That beat is really cool.

this has probably been in one of those sickly WB teen/20's dramas. they always play this kind of stuff. its a pity that good music makes it into such bad tv. I'd hear alot more good stuff if i could force myself to watch that crap
