This thing called love, I just can't handle it
This thing called love, I must get 'round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

This thing (this thing) called love (called love)
It cries (like a baby) in a cradle all night
It swings (woo-ooo), it jives (woo-woo)
It shakes all over like a jelly fish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
She knows how to rock and roll
She drives me crazy
She gives me hot and cold fever
Then she leaves me in a cool, cool sweat

I gotta be cool, relax
Get hip, get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitch-hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love

I gotta be cool relax
Get hip and get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitchhike
And take a long ride on my motor bike
Until I'm ready (ready Freddie)
Crazy little thing called love

This thing called love, I just can't handle it
This thing called love, I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love
Crazy little thing called love (Yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (Yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (Yeah, yeah)

1 year on - same. Came to say the same thing again, but I beat myself to it
It seems quite easy to sing, but it's pretty damn hard.  Freddie alternates notes in full and half voice in a masterful way

I think Dwight Yoakam’s version is a fantastic cover. Maybe captures even more of the rockabilly essence than the original. But hey, you’ve got to factor in the Englishness.

I thought it was the Stray Cats for a long time
Still can't believe that it's been so many years since Freddy left us.
Wow, 40 years after hearing this constantly I finally realize "ready Freddie" is a reference to Freddie Mercury.

'Seven Seas of Rhye' was a regular on the pub jukebox in my youth.

Of the bands popular in the 70s and 80s, Queen would not have been among my choices as the band most likely to do a rockabilly song.
Can I vote this one up to ELEVEN?

Asking for a friend.
Country Queen.
Get tired of the complaints that "overly commercialized" songs are played on RP from time to time.  The fact that songs like this were (and are still, on some stations) run into the ground is not Bill/Rebecca's fault.
Funny boring song.
Love Queen. Their hits are okay, but there are loads RP-friendly gems on their non-greatest hits albums.

Hahaha
Obviously Freddy and Queen's ode to Elvis and his style !
Robert Plant did this occasionally too !
Getting burned out on Queen. Again.

Unless you want to do Tie Your Mother Down or something else that scares children, then okay.
Never realized this song was from Queen. They were a diverse group, that's for sure.

Freddie!!! ♡ what a pleasant surprise to listen to Queen at rp.  Thanks Bill!  {#Bananajam}
Brings back memories of my first professional radio DJ job. The much-anticipated Queen single that crossed over to AC (adult contemporary) formats. Rang our phone off the hook. I still like it.
I have a sweet spot for this song...it would
fit right in to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and shamelessly
A couple of friends of mine used this song at the end of their ceremony in place of the traditional Mendelssohn wedding march—and it worked!
One of my favorite songs from my favorite band that contained not only an astro physicist but a Zoro astrianist...

Where's "39"?  "Liar"?  "Stormtrooper in Stillettos"? "Stone Cold Crazy"? Any number of other songs that weren't on the top 40?  Anyone who has more Queen stuff, please upload the songs!  What we have currently is lame.

When I tune into RP and hear songs like this—hits from yesteryear that were simply beaten to death on FM radio—I worry that Radio Paradise is trending towards a very middle-of-the-road oldies station.

I really liked this song when it came out and still do, but it's a very safe choice. Queen put out more than 5-10 songs over their career. RP should a place where you hear the lesser-known-but-still-good works by Freddie and the gang. This song has been played way too much in my lifetime—though perhaps not here, admittedly.

Radio PAradise is one of my favorite stations—I don't even bother listening to FM because of it and a few other Web radio stations. After I finish whining here, I'm off to donate some money to RP. There are times, though, when I feel compelled to cough politely in Bill and Rebecca's direction and raise my mild concern.

I have to counter this with an appreciation that Bill and Rebecca have the balls to play a few mainstream tunes that are decent.  Hard balance to strike, for sure, but I like what he's done so far!  Second the comment that this is nearly the only thing I listen to anymore (definitely no commercial FM anymore, though I do enjoy some of the music on our NPR station).

That said, this song does absolutely nothing for me {#Whistle}
I really love this song, is my favorite Queen song... {#Dance}

Reminds me of being a kid, listening to records in the basement with my sister:

As many times as I've heard this, I've never caught ANY of the words. "Bah duh. Dum duh. Ra de. Bah da du do dum."
Nice!
the thing is with this song - if you've just fallen, or already are in love - it really hits the spot.

Amen.

Prefer Dwight Yoakam's cover.

IMO, Queen has many undiscovered tunes that would fit very well with RP playlists! They have a large library of stuff that many have never heard before. This tune is one that has been a bit overplayed.
CRAP! BROOOO-ce, Yes, and now Queen brought back to like on RP... just when I thought I'd shaken them.

this ranks right up there with David Lee Roths "I Aint Got Nobody" for camp 80s wackness.

Bill, have you been watching PBS again? KCTS - NW Washington & BC, Canada just broadcast Queen's incredible Nov. 1981 concert at the Montreal Forum. What a night to remember! (I was there.) Oh, and ditto to the comments below about blocking trolls...

this song always gets me up and rockin kind of a goofy tune that's great to drive to
Man, I'm doing a lot of reminiscing today. This song always makes me think of Barb, a girl on my college debate team who sang along with this song so spirited on one of our road trips, I had to fall in love with the song. Hope she's doing well and still singing along when she hears this.
I hate this song. Can't help it.

I used to think so too, then my older sister turned me on to early queen (queen II) and I was impressed. And then when an interviewer was telling Clapton what a great guitar player he was and Eric replied with something to the effect of 'I'm ok, but that guy from Queen can do things I can't even come close to'.

How about something from the original "Highlander" movie by Queen? "Do you want to live forever?"
8) Elvis sorta Queenized...
Fantastic, how they could handle so many different styles and turn them into something of their own, in such a special (ironical) way. The first thing that comes to mind, when thinking of Queen, is their extravagant, symphonic rock style, but when it came down to it, they were very much a rock 'n' rollband.
Not the best Queen song in the world, but not the worst, either. Kinda fun but I'd like to hear other, more obscure tunes, please :)

I guess you have never seen Brian Setzer live, or Slim Jim or Lee Rocker. They ate, lived and breathed their music. Out of all of the great live shows I have enjoyed, the Stray Cats show left me worn out from jumpin' and dancing. Granted it was at the Metro in Chicago, before they had air conditioning and it was late July, but to say their music is an imitation unfortunately brings out your ignorance. Question is, are you imitating or living your life? ;)
Well put, JR. The Stray Cats were and are the real deal. I for one am glad they did and continue to keep the rockabilly tradition alive and kicking. And this Queen number is brilliant--they experimented with so much to great effect. I prefer to think of this cut as a fun little excursion down a well-traveled path by masters who simply had a creative love for rock music--in all its forms. Surely it wasn't meant to upstage so much as an homage for the idiom.
Hey Rp.. Nice that you play queen songs... but you should better play some of them that are never heard and are much better than this... like'39. the millionaire waltz, you an I, made in heaven... I was born to love you, Long away, The prophet song etc... Please... I can upload i f you want
this song brings back painful memories of a hopeless love. and this song fit the bill so right on! everytime i hear it makes me happy because i knew then that I would be alright.
This song makes me jump, jive, and wail every time. Only objection- it was played right after Patsy Cline's "Crazy" just corny...

But this is so much better than Stray Cats. I understand that the genre is similar, but this is a real song while Stray Cats are just imitating music.
