Here comes the ocean
And the waves down by the sea
Here comes the ocean
And the waves where have they been
Silver and black lit night, here's to a stealer's night
An empty splendid castle
Glowering alone at night, the princess has had a fight
Madness seeks out a lover
And here come the waves
Down by the shore
Washing the soul of the body
That comes form the depth of the sea
Here comes the ocean
And the waves down by the sea
Here comes the ocean
And the waves where have they been
Don't swim tonight my love, the tide is out my love
Malcolm's curse haunts our family
Odious loud and rich, ruler of filthy seas
Revel in heaven's justice
And here come the waves
And save for a scream
There's much like a song to be heard
In the wind that blows by the sea
Like the wind
Here come the waves
Here come the waves
Here come the waves
Here come the waves
And the waves down by the sea
Here comes the ocean
And the waves where have they been
Silver and black lit night, here's to a stealer's night

There's quite a bit of excellent VU stuff - unfortunately this ain't one of them and it shows how pretentious they could be. But when they hit the mark - WOW! Very few groups were better.
Ditto. Ditto.

Hard to look at VU now, in 2004...it's too out of context. BUT, back then baby...it was THE haps :grouphug.gif: Music was a different experience...and, the drugs were much better :sunny.gif:
A wonderful crashing ending.
Pioneering glam.
respect != enjoy, in this case. perhaps a different mood would fit this...
The thing about these early bands is that many times they were the first bands of their genre.
Lou Reed, and the VU people were all part of Warhol\'s Factory scene. They pioneered glam rock, minimal rock and more.
They greatly deserve respect, even if they are not good for every mood.
I never have understood the appeal of this band, I think people just like name dropping them as an \"influence\" to impress critics
Wow! I don\'t know much about the Velvet Underground, but I really like what I hear! This song is very art-rockish (which is my favorite type of music), and I somehow thought VU was a punk band.
