Try taking off the blinders anyway. Who cares how they got there....

Yes! Play this version. MUCH better.
I'd like to hear that one myself.
I like this song, but prefer the "Sticky Fingers" original.

hmm.. that's exactly opposite my rhinking... I've always thought anything after '79 was bad... And I'm 17 right now. The truth is, when you listen to music of a certain era or genre, you are never exposed to enough other music to find other stuff you like. It's only been since I discovered Rp that I've found newer music I like.
Great studio song; great live song. Great - freakin' - song...

That's one of the most ignorant statements I've ever seen. I'm 23 as of this post, and I happen to absolutely love music by the Beatles, Yes, ELP, Kansas, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, etc... That's not to mention all the Jazz, classical, et al. from ages past. Just because someone states his personal opinion about a band doesn't mean you need to make a rediculously unfounded, narrow-minded statement about an entire age group. Sounds like you're the one who needs to finish growing up anyway.
Blech...boring AND annoying.
Whistling past the tombstones, are we?
Yeah that was fun! One of my favorites from that band, The uh..Rolling something or others. The version from Big Lebowski was Townes Van Zandt I believe.
Sorry but this song isn't THAT bad. And I'm not even a Stones fan. I only HOPE I can pursue my passion (like they do) when I'm their age!
What version of this song was in the Big Lebowski? Anyone?

Play a different Stones song.... and play Dead Flowers done by someone else!
The Cowboy Junkies version is much better.
ok, maybe they shoulda capo'd up a fret or two, but all these shotgun barbs? i hope when i'm mick's age, my fans will cut me some slack. (wait a minute ... fans?)
totalty Awesome !
Don't understand all the negative comments for this. I think it's just the guys having a little fun putting a twist on one of their songs in front of a live audience. What's wrong with that? Jeez, lighten up.

"Rip this Joint" please.
I like the studio version MUCH better. Something about the vocals that lowers this to a 5. :-k
Ain't it a shame what happens when a band stays too long. I love the song - so it gets a decent rating - but most cover bands can do better.
In Mick's own words "What a drag it is getting old."
The Cowboy Junkies do this song well. I'm still having trouble dealing with the whacky country accents here. Hopefully I'll get used to it some day.
This song is what happens when you're rich and no one cares if you can't stay closer than a light year to the actual notes...
Whoever was on the mixing board should be shot. I think there are some vocals back in there somewhere.
I agree Townes Van Zandt's version is better. But I don't believe this version is a 1. I just wish the Stones were still making relevant music. Some of Mick's stuff in the last few years has been ok. And live Kieth still brings it, but in general these days a Stones concert doesn't offer much more than a greatest hits review.

This live recording helps you to understand how and why a band can continue to rock long after they're in full dentures. They are real musicians, playing together, not just "doing a song."
Your're right buddy !! The Stones rocks !!!

Also, I love that the 1-rating is called "sucko-barfo"...it's really cathartic when you get to use it! Thanks for that, RP!
Wow. I wanted to write something about this song as the quintessence of oneness, but you've already expressed it far better than I!
Yikes !! 8O

This is a great album, and great video that went with it. These guys are ancient, but you watch Keith play his guitar, you see a man in love. I'm not a real Stones fan, but I love this album. Wish I'd seen the tour.

Dunno, sure sounds like Mick is channeling Gram Parsons.
Say what you want but this is one of the best Stones songs!!
If this is one of the best Stones songs, I must not like the stones!

*Fabulous* tune from the Strolling Bones.

Lordy Mick sounds old.
Ugh. I hate it when Mick tries to do the southern accent bit. It just points out his own twang mixed with some contrived 'how i should sound' inflection makes him sounds like a total idiot. It's worse that he's got someone singing backup with him, who isn't even in the same key. :p
BARF! Love this song, just don\'t like this version. Sounds rushed and a hollow copy of themselves. Wish RP would play the original. I\'ve heard garage bands do a better cover than this self-cover...

I agree. This is still great to hear, though.
great song. you should follow this up with some son volt, jay farrar\'s voice is very reminiscent of mick\'s on this song.
Oddly enough, the studio version is significantly better.
This is just horrible. I didn\'t realize it was the Stones, and now I\'m embarrassed for them.
Reminds me why people are still going to see these old guys in concert. Great tune!
Yet another Stones song that I had forgotten about...and still like.
One of my all time favorites from the Stones. This version is just as outstanding as the original. Steve Earle does an interesting version as well.
One of the greatest tunes ever created!!! All my love people!!! Stevo B!!!!!
Damn Bill... I was all ready to leave work and get some food... when you put this on... I guess I can wait for a few more minutes... ;) --d
YEE HAW!!! there's nothing like some rootsy stones!

You're probably right. Ron Wood fits in better as a pal and rhythm guitar counterpart for Keith, but I got the best memories of the Stones when Mick Taylor played with them. His fluid, smooth and Keith' raw, basic style of playing, often produced a very exciting contrast. He hasn't done much notable since he left the Stones, though.
Man, what a rocking tune - this is great.
Great version - \"Take me down, little Suzy!\"
ohhh yeeeaaahhh! I won\'t forget to put roses on your graaavvveeee :D This is my favorite singing by the campfire song. Great recording... Rock on RP!
