Even though this song has been butchered by tv and commercials - its one hell of a godlike song! 10/10
This is from 1972?  This sounds like a typical RP track from 2010, same sort of complexity, arrangements, melody, etc.  This man was WAY ahead of his time.

I've been listening to this song for over two decades and NEVER noticed how short it is until right now. It's a universe unto itself, isn't it?
50 years this week
Hate to say that I’d never heard of Nick Drake until the VW commercial, but I am thankful to whatever agency did that. My life has been better because of it.
Always stop what I'm doing when this come on :-9

Short & sweet.

I'm taking a wild guess here, but could it be because he died more than 40 years or so at the time you noticed before 5 or so years ago?
10+
In Italy in 1981 came out the song "notte rosa" taken from the ononymous LP. The artist is Umberto Tozzi...{#Angel}
Watched the YouTube documentary on him last night (A Skin Too Few). Sad.
PSD'd out of the horribleness of Counting Crows into this beautiful song.

Ahhhh........
11
Ive always wondered how Nicks career would have been if he lived..Mainstream radio and producers didn't give him the break he deserved...Thanks RP.

Perhaps he is polytheistic and thus finds the current 10 ambiguous?

I bumped you one, and you're so right about Debbie. We need less downers in the world.
A true classic, thank you RP

Does RP ever play ND's All My Trials?  Yes, it's not one of his orginals, yes it's a cover... but it channels my Kingston Trio youth and I love it. Gentle and poignant.
Love The Drake
Timeless and gorgeous.

Over 45 years of listening and I still turn up the volume when this comes on.
My favorite song under two minutes.
Pure briliance. Saw a concert celebrating what would have been his 70th recently. Great - but not a patch!
Would score 11 if that was possible.

An artist sadly never recognised in his own lifetime

In the last thirty days "Cello Song" has been played 4 times and "River Man" has been played twice, but "Saturday Sun" is not on the playlist.  I guess it's mostly a matter of the timing of when you're tuning in.

Harvest moon to pink moon - the link may be a bit obvious but that's two 10s on the trot for me.

Unmisdrakeable.
I love Nick Drake and I like Pink Moon, but you guys are wearing it out and he has other great songs to mine from.  I don't want this to become my Free Bird or Stairway, due to overplay.  And PSD is not the whole answer, as I want to hear more of him here.  Maybe PSD would give me that; haven't used it much, usually listen in my own player.

I am not suprised by this comment. I think Pink Moon was also my first Nick Drake song I heard and I thought almost the same.
Until Cello Song hit me hard in a way I cant explain and I noticed the beauty for the first time. Since then for me "Five leaves left" is the best album ever produced. Mentally still fairly healty he produced this first album and I think its the best he made.

The other albums are also good, but certain songs like Pink Moon are still not a 9 or 10 in my book.
such a lovely little piano line
An oldie but a goodie! I wuz 10 years old in 1972... Time rocks my world!!
Sounds great anytime, as most any Nick Drake song; especially after Neil Young's brilliant masterpiece Harvest Moon.  Thanks, RP!
One of the greatest commercials ever made. When the backup light comes on, it's hard to not tear up.

Yesterday's Nick Drake selection was better. The vocals on this one are annoying, unfortunately the same is true for most of his songs. It still earns a 4.

Romeo and Juliet
Act 2, Scene 2:

JULIET:
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.

Bonos dies, Sir Toby: for, as the old hermit of
Prague, that never saw pen and ink, very wittily
said to a niece of King Gorboduc, 'That that is is;
'so I, being Master Parson, am Master Parson; for,
what is 'that' but 'that,' and 'is' but 'is'?

Full Moon in Scorpio - Native Pink Moon - the arrival of Spring!

The Full Moon is today - for this Thursday, April 25, 2013...
The Full Moon comes with a Lunar Eclipse (the first of three) making this indeed a potent time. It is a time to connect more deeply with who you are and what you need and desire at this time for your life.

You will be tested. Is this what you really want? If so the time for manifesting is now. The opportunities for expansion and growth are truly amazing and you should spend some good time praying for what you want.

Appreciation for what you have is important as well as gratitude for your life. This is a time to honor anything that has happened in a big way in your life even if it is challenging. Look at it instead as spirit presenting you with a big energy.

"Madison Avenue" is just a phrase used to represent the American advertising industry, since ad firms have historically been there for over 100 years.  Oddly, I believe the ad firm (Arnold Worldwide) responsible for the VW ad is actually based in Boston, not NYC, and that firm is owned by a French advertising firm..
This song is far too short and needs a bridge. Wait a second, after looking at the lyrics, this song only has a chorus. Back to work Nick. 10.
I'm sorry, I've really tried but just can't understand a word this guy says.  "Zo I zitting on a zoy zay"?

Pink pink pink pink.... pink moon.
The first track I played as a DJ was a Nick Drake tune— The Time of No Reply.
His voice just does me and has for 25 years.
First time I'm hearing Nick Drake on RP... can't say I'm surprised, just happy.
Happy happy happy happy.
Thank you.

I think Romeo was kicked out of his hotel room for too much dancing.  {#Sad}
Nick Drake has been ruined for me by all those bon-homie movies - as soon as he strikes up, it's meant to represent the protagonist getting into a warm introspective reflective mood.  Nick Hornsby and his ilk have turned Nick Drake into an emotional cliche.
Such a beautiful song :)

"It’s almost as important as sex.”

It depends who's having it though. Unfortunately, in the UK, there are too many abusing the system with their benefits based pyramid scheme.
Such a great tune. Was introduced to Nick by this song in a Volkswagen commercial. Best thing advertising has ever done for me.
Music is music.  Don't matter where you hear it.{#Fight}
I was driving the M3 out in the hills near Driftwood yesterday evening, came up over a rise and there was the most beautiful pink full moon rising in the east.  Yes, I thought of this song.

Pink Moon was in an ad for the VW Bug in the United states. I really liked the ad and wanted to know who the singer was going "Ping, ping, ping..." Was very happy to find out while listening to RP.

Unfortunately, Madison Avenue and the TV networks here love—love—to beat commercials to death, so I can understand why people got sick of the song. Fortunately, American ingenuity led to the TV remote (with a mute button, sirdroseph).

The New York Times had this bit in the inventor's recent obituary

As Mr. Polley, by then 86, proudly told an interviewer in 2002: “The flush toilet may have been the most civilized invention ever devised, but the remote control is the next most important. It’s almost as important as sex.”

Almost.

The song is in 4/4, but the way he plays the guitar and sings makes it sound kind of like 3/4 with a skipped beat, so it's kind of a 3+3+2 sort of thing going on ... if that makes sense.  Brilliant!
You could play this three times a day and it would never get old. 10.

Currently at an exceptionally high 9:2 rating ratio of 56.5 (a better measure of opinion than the 10:1 ratio because no one should take ratings of 1 seriously).  {#Clap}
Thank you, Bill.
This was the perfect song to close out my day with as I wandered through my quiet house. Just the soft sounds of "Pink Moon" wafting through from room to room.
