i've been on quite the joe and james gang kick for the last few months. both remind me of my dad.
i'm ashamed to say that i had NEVER heard of spooky tooth until i switched over to RP's Rock Mix a couple of months ago. i don't know how i missed them! good stuff.

Yeah, the sessions are pretty nice. P was asking me so when do I get to hear all this stuff you've been ripping all these years other than in the car ? So I've finally got a fair amount of albums finished and with the new speakers, it was time to give it a go. It's like we're 20 something again, hanging and listening, with and without baking. The music will take you to that nice place regardless.
Speaking of Genesis, their catalogue seems to be getting the treatment with Atlantic Records 75th Anniversary. As is a lot of Phil Collin's solo work. They are getting 45rpm albums done just like Steely Dan's catalogue. I've got my eyes of The Lamb for openers. I got the 2018 repress that was ok. been listening to it on a fairly regular basis. My OP copies are beat up. I did get to see them do The Lamb at the 3000 seat Music Hall here in Cleveburg shortly before Gabriel's departure was announced. That was a jaw dropping experience with all of the costumes. I was also tripping for that which didn't hurt things. My best buddy's cousin is Daryl Stuermer who toured with Genesis for years and was basically Collin's guitarist for his solo work.
Breakfast in America is great, but it was really echo-y coming off of F Mac. Crime Of The Century is primo. I'll be getting to Even In The Quietist Moment and Crisis, What Crisis soon, too.
Royal Scam is probably my favorite SD followed by Countdown and Aja.

yes, as i said, i'm just starting to appreciate Breakfast in America for sure, also Crime of The Century and especially Even in the Quietest Moments (headphones, so nice.)
Royal Scam is my fav, then i agree - countdown and aja. can't go wrong.
i went to a bunch of laser light shows at the planetarium in high school. they did dark side of the moon, they did zeppelin - but not any certain album, sort of a mix up to in through the out door. it was fantastic. i think there was another one, but those two i went back to see over and over again. it was really something. like being high with no drugs or alcohol. i really dug it. you know how i feel about genesis thanks for the reminder, i'm going to revisit those two, and maybe even in one whole sitting i'll do a lamb lies down on broadway. we'll see. i wasn't a big fan of supertramp growing up, but i have become one in the last 2 years. i'm not sure what made this happen. that album in particular. i'm going to listen to it all the way through sometime soon on your prompting. i really like your idea of your 2 - 3 4 hr+ sessions a week. i may take your lead on this too! sounds right up my alley. i think i'm going to start with The Royal Scam and/or Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. we'll see. i'm going to visit N4KU and aligator this weekend. i bet i could interest them in a session idea like this.

Yeah, I haven't played Ten in a little bit over 3 years. I'm relearning what the music sounds like now on the new speakers. Everything is different. Side 1 of Ten works but Side 2 is going to take some more listening to. Vs. is being re released on 45 rpm vinyl in a couple of weeks so Ten was a bit of a warm up for that.
I'm digging into stuff I haven't played in ages just to see what it sounds like again and see what still works and even what makes me go Wow ! after all these years. What is finished and what needs more attention. Albums and album sides are a whole different listening experience than doing a playlist of songs. Just sitting, TV off, listening and looking over at the wife now and then and seeing when her head is bopping and she's singing along, making notes for the future. We're doing 2 to 3 of these 4 hour plus sessions every week now. Lot's of experimenting seeing what plays nicely with others. Dire Straits and Supertramp which is playing now, did not do so well after what came before. I'm hoping I Robot is a nice finish. I associate I Robot with the old Laserium days. A Laser light show set to music while you sat back in planetarium recliner chairs looking up at the lights.

i just revisited Ten a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 10+ years. i associate it with fall and a certain time in my "youth." forgot how 'different' it sounded to me when i got ahold of it the week it came out - loved it. still think it's great.

At the cabin in the mountains, the wind in the trees is the equivalent ocean. The crows, the Flickers, the snorting deer. The drop off into the valley where the coyotes sing.

BTW, I love listening to the wind. It is a good preference to have if you live in a semi-arid place between mountains.
