CBS is said to be about to pull out the last thing in the anti-Trump arsenal – that Trump used Mafia contractors to build his buildings. Yawn. It’s New York. This morning, Trump received his first two Congressional endorsements; Rep. Duncan Hunter, a Republican from California, and Rep. Chris Collins, a Republican from New York. They just have to come out of the closet." That just goes to show you how messed up the current situation is that even U.S. Congressmen are scared to admit that they support Donald Trump because they might be branded as racists or fascists. I have no disagreement at all that Trump is becoming a leader. But of what, and to where? Those are the significant questions. Moreover the primary blame lies with the media for giving him airtime. He has never held office, never had real success, and has espoused no real plan for our nation. They should treat him like a fringe candidate and ignore him, but the story is so entertaining that they can't. But it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy: the TV says "lookit, EVERYone's voting for him!" and people wonder, "if not Hillary, whom can I vote for? Well, the TV is telling me that Trump is in the lead. I guess there's a reason..."
I read his tweets, and the blind angry support from others, mostly based on empty promises and threats - and it's so totally reminiscent of Hitler that it's a bit frightening. People come to power, decide to eliminate the ones that are causing all the problem, and gather the bullies as muscle.
Seriously, because I know we all have different ideas about where the nation should go. I think this is way past funny or interesting, and into the realm of dangerous. It took a while to end the Third Reich, but Americans should prevent it from taking hold in the States.
I'll hit the bolded first and try and get to the rest in some way.
Yes, he has never held office. That disqualifies him before he gets started ? He has actually elaborated a very decent tax plan that has passed muster by many credible reviewers. His plan on the borders and immigration is much more than just building a wall. His grasp of international trade issues and monetary policy and job creation far surpass all of the candidates on both sides. I'll give you he is so far vague on an alternative to our health care mess of which you and I have a better understanding of than most just because of our professional involvement in healthcare. He will have to deliver something coherent on that front sooner or later. On the success part, I'll go with Forbes over Mother Jones, which cites Forbes. Forbes has him worth $4.5 bil currently. As of around 1990, they had him off the 400 list and basically broke. $4.5 bil from nothing in 25 years is pretty good any way you look at it.
We are down to 5 viable candidates. All 5 have their share of blindly loyal and uninformed supporters. Of the 5, who are independent of donors and the establishment ? There are only 2. I have yet to find any nefarious secret backers for Trump or Sanders although Sanders is becoming the sweetheart of Hollywood. Who are the real donors ? The oligarchs, right ? They don't want Trump. That is an endorsement of Trump for me.
What's the old political axiom ... if everyone is mad at you, then you must be doing something right ? Everyone but Trump's supporters hate Trump, on both sides of the aisle. The media hates Trump. The US Chamber of Commerce hates Trump because of his position on the borders and The TPP. If you support Sanctuary Cities and all that comes with that, then I would understand your's or anyone's opposition to Trump. I disagree with that, but at least I understand it.
Do you really believe that he is the coming of the Fourth Reich ? For what purpose ? He's too flipping old to get something of that magnitude going again. He is not a neocon. A pompous asshole yes, but not a neocon. I think the call for Social Justice is the real path to the Fourth Reich, via class warfare. Who is Trump's scapegoat ? The easy answer is Muslims and illegals, but if you take a close look, that is not true. He is after an incompetent government full of political patronage hacks that enables all the bad actors.
Have we reached the point where we believe that it is impossible to believe that anyone might actually just want to fix what is broken, just for the good of doing it, because they can ? Or that things are too effed up for anyone to fix things ? If that is the case, then give up and vote for Hillary.
I actually believe that Trump wants to do a good job and be remembered for doing so by having his name plastered on schools, libraries and hospitals as his legacy.

Maybe, but I think that Trump's statement was inclusive, not pandering. He put the well educated on even footing with the less or "poorly" educated. He didn't say I'm smarter than you and I know what's best for you, like all the other elites usually do, as in the concept of the nanny state. He said, I love you ! One's level of education does not determine how smart you are or aren't. Trump get's that. He's building a broad based coalition that has room for everyone, regardless of what collar you wear, or education you have. He's going for the whole curve, no one is excluded, all are equal. That is what a real leader does.
This election is all about who can lead, and lead us away from K Street and Wall Street. That is what will win.

I was referring to the "different" anger coming from the Tea Party or birthers, or others who go on about wanting to "take their country back", which was different from the anger or disenchantment in 2008.
