The truth itself can contain no lies. The "truth" itself isn't even the opposite of a lie, that being a self serving falsehood. The truth is, in part as related to our very existence, a principle that ultimately states- if I, we, he she it, they, them, etc
can't find a way to live together in peace then for the most part, when confronted with true evil, we won't be able to discern anything about what is real or actual with regards to being manipulated.
The Bible says beginning in John 8:42-47 that Jesus, as he is blasting the Jews in the temple for their hypocrisy and religious backward justification of truth in their own eyes how they line their mouths with lies.
There seems to be a lot of justification going on these days.

I think the point is that there is a difference between promoting a lie and the psychological manipulation. This produces bothsidesism (see above) and promotes an overall state of excusing anything the leader says or does.
