My July Mix is complete.
Planning on mailing towards the middle of this week.
I need to do this quickly because I'm going on a camping/ kayak trip to Santa Cruz Island.
I don't want to leave this hanging.
Mr. D!
I'm sending you both this month's, and the one you missed out on in one package.
Just trying to be cheap frugal.

Shoe Salesman â You probably have no idea how happy it makes me to hear this. Until now I have never met anyone else who was a fan of the early (avant-garde) Alice Cooper. Had to special order this record from the very patient record department at the Mercantile as a teenager.
Wichita Lineman â After watching his long decline and his corny TV show it's nice to be reminded just how talented a guitarist, singer, and songwriter he was. Did you know he and Alice Cooper were good friends? Alice praised him as a musician, a christian, and a golfer.
the minimiser series racks up another W!
I was young (9 YO) when I started listening to AC. Billion Dollar Babies had just come out if I recall. But as I started to buy his records Easy Action became one of my favorites.
I didn't know Glen and Alice were pals, or if I did I've forgotten. He is a first rate guitarist, definitely doesn't get the recognition he deserves there.
Glad you enjoyed the MM series, sometimes I feel I'm being lazy with them. But they are a great way to hash things together that work well but don't have what I would think make full on themes for a whole disc.

It's been a crazy year with moving and all. I decided it was a good time to clean out the top drawer of my Mix idea cabinet while I compile some new ones. Some themes I had that didn't have the legs for a full disc. Not chock full of new things but hopefully some you haven't heard in awhile or that went together well. Hope you enjoyed!
This really worked. Feels timely. Some specifics while I play hooky from work for a few minutes:
Shoe Salesman — You probably have no idea how happy it makes me to hear this. Until now I have never met anyone else who was a fan of the early (avant-garde) Alice Cooper. Had to special order this record from the very patient record department at the Mercantile as a teenager.
Wichita Lineman — After watching his long decline and his corny TV show it's nice to be reminded just how talented a guitarist, singer, and songwriter he was. Did you know he and Alice Cooper were good friends? Alice praised him as a musician, a christian, and a golfer.
Welfare Music — New to me, and really nice.
Down Payment Blues — Aw, loved this when it came out. Can't say much for the rest of their catalog, but this always rocked it.
Drive By Truckers — Another I'm not familiar with from a familiar band. Nice microtheme.
Renegade — Not his strongest piece, but damned fine.
Since She Started to Ride — As the spouse of a horse person every word of this rings true.
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood — OK, this is really splendid. She sings it like she means it.

hope that makes sense
Makes sense to me.
1. Shoe Salesman: Alice Cooper. I vaguely remember this one from an album I vaguely
remember. Nice digging.
2. Dealer/ Spanish Rose: Santana. Another deep cut! Excellent!
3. Wichita Lineman: Glen Campbell. Not a deep cut. I always liked this song. I think I still have
this one on a 45.
Great choices for the profession section of this mix.
4. Welfare Music Bottle Rockets: Like the Bottle Rockets. Never heard this one from them
before. Very rootsy.
5. Down Payment Blues: AC/DC. Thereâs no mistaking who this is.
6. Hell No I Ainât Happy: Drive By Truckers. When these guys are included in the mix... Iâm
happy
Welfare motherâs make better lovers.
7. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down: The Band. A classic story telling song.
8. Renegade: Warren Zevon. Love this one from Warren. Well, I could say that about all of his
songs.
9. Rebels: Tom Petty/ Heartbreakers. Didnât he quit playing this live because people started
using it an anthem? Oh well..
I hope you didnât offend anybody with this set. Makes me want to go and watch some Dukes of Hazzard. Not really.
10. Oh Susannah: James Taylor. Good job James. I really like the Byrds version of this one. Hard
to beat that Rickenbacker lead on it.
11. Olâ McDonald: Big Voodoo Daddy. These guys seem to have all the bases covered.
A PG-13 lyric update too.
12. Coming Around the Mountain: The Bears. Nice version of this one. I really like the musical
arrangement of it. Canât go wrong with a pedal steel.
Iâve heard of these before. Just not these versions.
13. Since She Started To Ride: Jonathan Richmond. A twangy J. Richmond. Go figure Nice.. Canât
go wrong with a pedal steel.
14. I Hate Horses: Jill Sobule. How could one hate horses? Maybe if you owned one, I guess.
Interesting lyrics there. Liked the touch of mariachi horns in the mix.
15. Wishes: Jon Butcher. âAnd wishes were horses pure men wald ryde.â Old Scottish Proverb
Horse sense makes sense to me.
16. Donât Let Me Be Misunderstood: Nina Simone. Wow. That was powerful.
17. Mrs. Robinson: Frank Sinatra. No, I donât think so. I really donât get Frank. I suppose you had
to be there. I guess I kinda was. I still didnât get him... lounge singer extraordinaire. Only one
of his songs I did kinda get... âHigh Hopesâ. Must be the fact itâs one that brings back
memories of one of the first songs I heard on the radio.
18. Mandolin Wind: Everly Brothers. Hey. Not bad. But the original one was better
A swing and 1.5 strikes.
Another nice Mini- Miser Mix from the master of these mixes. Nice artwork on the cover too.
Thanks for your work... it was worth it.
