What I did was illegal.  We should have bought the car, but left it with the previous owner and came back home and gotten temporary plates, then gone back to pick up the car after we had the temporary plates to put on it. 

Since the car was 2 hours away, this was not a feasible scenario. And we thought the car had plates, because it did in the pictures.  (Every other time I've ever bought a used car, we drove home with the previous plates on it.)

We were admittedly pretty dumb about it.

I'm just not sure the best way to talk about it at the hearing.

didn't we dig up some NH laws when we all talked about this before? I think on title, there is something written about it on the back. or  we found a website at NH DMV. find that stuff and print it out.

I didn't even know I was breaking the law, because I had the bill of sale. I'm hoping the fees will be reduced, at the very least.

I don't think it's a matter of "us" allowing big business to poison us, but our governments allowing it. Despite all of the evidence to support the dangers of these contaminents, they are still in bed with many of the larger corporations that exist in our countries.  Big business is big government.   

Big business has too much power.  Every week, headlines reveal some scandal involving politicians, lobbyists, corporate cash, and allegations of bribes. CEOs get face time with senators, cabinet secretaries, and presidents. Lawmakers and bureaucrats take laps through the revolving door between government and corporate lobbying. Whatever goes on behind closed doors between the CEOs and the senators can't be good or the doors would not be closed. 

Just what is big business doing with all this influence? There are many assumptions about big business's agenda.  "When corporations lobby governments, their usual goal is to avoid regulation."

I found it alarming that in Europe, most of the contaminants the US allows into our food chain and into our air, water and soil are strictly banned - also for very good reason.  Why are we allowing big business to poison us?

... we found out that it would never make it over the border into Canada and in fact you can't buy one anywhere here. I suppose there's a very good reason for that, as you have discovered.

nevermind.  A current teacher who's class was cancelled will teach instead.  I had really talked myself into it!  But, it would have been a lot of work... so,  gotta keep hustlin' my usual wares.

Maybe a little late to weigh in and no reason this should influence your decision, but I was teaching very similar classes at a community art school that was accredited by a local community college. While there I became friends with another instructor who was teaching classical drawing. He hung in there longer than I and now he's teaching at Pratt in NY. I guess I'm trying to say that you never know where these opportunities will lead and if you decide not to pursue the edu track you can always eject when appropriate. Good luck with your decision!

Graphic Design I (ie, 1st-year students)

I taught Illustration IV in the spring... but that was 3rd-year students, and it was illustration, and it was one full day a week.  (I got fairly glowing student reviews).  It was hard but the money was, well, money.

The hourly rate is lousy, especially considering the class prep time and the driving (3hrs minimum a week).  It's a fraction of what I get as a designer or illustrator...  But my workflow has been weak lately.

I don't know if I have the patience for 1st-year students.  No, really.  I'm terrible with overentitled brats, and there is a lot of them in art school.

I feel like I gotta take it, even if it's hard and lousy because I need the money.

Thoughts?
