As I was goin' over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I saw Captain Farrell and his money he was countin'
I first produced my pistol and then produced my rapier
I said stand and deliver or the devil he may take ya

I took all of his money and it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money yeah and I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she'd love me, no never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman yeah for you know she tricked me easy

Musha ring dum a doo dum a da
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

Being drunk and weary I went to Molly's chamber
Takin' my money with me, but I never knew the danger
For about six or maybe seven in walked Captain Farrell
I jumped up, fired off my pistols and I shot him with both barrels

Musha ring dum a doo dum a da
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

Now some men like the fishin' and some men like the fowlin'
And some men like ta hear, ta hear the cannon ball a roarin'
Me I like sleepin', specially in my Molly's chamber
But here I am in prison, here I am with a ball and chain yeah

Musha ring dum a doo dum a da
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

Whiskey in the jar-o
Musha ring dum a doo dum a da
Musha ring dum a doo dum a da
Hey, musha ring dum a doo dum a da
Musha ring dum a doo dum a da

In the dark row of Fleetwwood Mac first, there's a light!
Nope. Just a redo of Thin Lizzy’s version with the soul removed and replaced with ‘meathead’.

Dubbelito has it right here. Garage Inc was Metallica's covers album of songs that inspired them to play. Their version of Bread Fan by Budgie inspired me to find the original.
I'm glad I did.

Mr Bill, more heavy rock please on the Rock Mix.
And everyone else, get some Budgie in ya.

That was kinda their goal with their "Garage INC" album...

Sooo good, thanks RP! Please also add Astronomy from the same album to the playlist and all is well in the universe :-)
Utterley dreadful and as bad as the "original"
my 8 rating is a +1 from 7 simply cuz it's Metallica on RP.
LLRP!!

I agree those version are so much better, but to me Thin Lizzy's is the definitive version.

OK, I get it. It's almost Halloween.

Funny how that whole thing played out over time.

"...When Ulrich looked back on the entire Napster lawsuit in a 2014 Reddit AMA, he had few regrets. “I wish we had been better prepared for the s— storm that we found ourselves in,” he wrote. “I don’t regret taking on Napster, but I do find it odd how big of a part of our legacy it has become to so many people, because to me it’s more like a footnote.” However, he was still clarifying misconceptions about why Metallica filed the lawsuit, and what they hoped to accomplish."
Dubliners or Pogues versions are best.  Gotta have that brogue, bro.
Their cover of Killing Joke's The Wait is better, but this was cool to hear too.  Thanks for playing something out of the ordinary!
Not a huge Metallica fan, but this sounds like pop for them. Meh.
it's ok
Grateful Dead version better than this or Thin Lizzy. (So Many Roads Disc 5)
A great version of a great song. Metallica's only good song. Raucous video as well.
uhmmm... I was surprised, have never heard RP play metallica... ever! ever? It just seemed out of character, if that's even possible. I love You RP...  despite the heavy.

  This kicks butt live! {#Bananajam}

Dreadful. Like listening to a garbage disposal for five minutes.

Metallica!!! {#War}
If they got rid of that fucking singer I could probably tolerate them for a couple tunes. {#Arghhh}
Metallica?
*eyeroll*
PSD
C'mon you haters!  This is effin awesome!{#Bananajam}{#Drummer}
Metallica sucks, this sucks
there is no one like Phil Lynott, that makes it difficult to like this version
I took my boys to a concert around 2004 in the RDS Dublin and the headline group was Metallica who played this as a kind of encore/tribute for the Irish audience.  Nice idea.  Also on the venue was a band called Slipknot - the less said about that the better - it looked like the doors of the asylum been opened and the inmates let loose on stage. My boys thought it was great! Happy days.
Ugh.
Ahhhh! More "thud and drone" crap!

Boring, monotonous, mundane, predictable, no hooks, etc.

Let's face it, these guys can't harmonize if their lives depend upon it. They should stick to the usual, half octave, growl and mumble for singing and it goes quite well with standard, 4/4, "thud and drone" guitar playing.

Pretty stinkin' bad
I have trouble believing this was *ever* good.

I remember when the original came out in the mid-1600's.  I think I still have it on cassette somewhere in a drawer in my basement.
Good for a laugh but cripes this sucks.
My internet dropped out halfway through.  Even the the InterWeb thing doesn't like this.
One of the few Metallica songs I can tolerate these days- especially after their Napster/MP3 lawsuit thing.
PSD--gets me to this rarely played (on RP) gem.  Love their rendition.
Never again please - how to kill a song.
First off - the Thin Lizzy version is reasonable, catchy etc. - but by no means fantastic.
Metallica have just copied this version - left out all its melodic undertones, replaced Phil Lynott's charisma with one-dimensional cheap 'rock'.
Only those who insist in wearing black t-shirts all the time will go for this.

Sure. Split hairs.
Metallica is the finest metal band in rock history.  Would love to here for example, Enter Sandman
Good bad or mediocre, I've not heard Metallica here to now. Can't say it sucks, I really like the guitar riff, and Ulrich is always totally the muscle beat meister...but it doesn't sound like typical...Metallica.

I think this song comes from a period where Metallica actually sucked pretty badly.

I prefer their older stuff, Black album and prior (Master of Puppets, Justice for All)   Though I thought Death Magnetic was a bit of a comeback for them.

Baby steps.  Next would be some stuff from Black, then ease into Justice For All with One then we'll be banging our head to Battery in no time.  We can then come down gently with some Hem.  {#Good-vibes}

They have done far better than this, horrible example of Metallica.
Holy shit, Metallica? Wow! Not sure what else to say...
Not their best. 3
This is the best song Radio Paradise has ever played in the history of their existence. Period.
Wonderful Metallica reading of this old song.  Thanks RP for broadening your playlist just a bit more. {#Cheers}
Nice to rock out on occasion!  You can only hear so much Mumford and Sons/Fleet Foxes/Starbucks folk guitar rock in a day sometimes.

{#Dancingbanana_2}
Whoa I thought my itunes had automatically changed my favorite radio station with another one.. lol. Yes, Metallica, quite surprising for RP!
Now Bill, play Enter Sandman or The Unforgiven ;)
Ouch.  This is awful.  Truly freaking AWFUL.
Horrifying.
Thumbs up for some heavier stuff on occasion. Love the variety!
Nice to hear Metallica on RP
I thought somebody had suck in my room and changed my iTunes channel...
Not a bad cover of a cover of a cover of a cover…
Metallica has done a lot of annoying things in their time and this is one of them.
Would prefer Thin Lizzy, but not so bad.
Glad to see Metallica making it into the Eclectic Hall of Fame that Radio Paradise is....
(envision flames of comments too {#Cool} )
Metallica in RP? I thought i would never hear them on this radio! :D

Great addition Bill! regardless of the genre, I do think that there are various heavy metal groups that could be easily included in the playlist of the station
Never thought I'd hear the day....
YEEEESSS!!!  {#Bananapiano}
Whoa! Metallica ... Is this is first on RP? Nice Whiskey themed segue.
Wait, seriously? {#Drummer}

Would not have expected to hear this on RP!
Not a Metallica fan, but it's nice to hear something a little heavier...
Like it.....strong sound for the cover!!

(Hooray, I'm finally the FIRST to comment....)
