Were these lyrics written to be intentionally bad?
First couple of strums, I thought someone was redoing Dave Mason's 'We Just Disagree.'
Beautiful song.
I just can't listen to it anymore.

I'm hearing a distinct Irish lilt, but it also sounds like the Ozark Mountain Daredevils in some places. I agree, though - the music is lovely. Then again, a twelve-string guitar can make anything sound lovely.
Oh get a grip, it's just crabs, you always blow these things out of proportion.

Compared to the standard musical formula, I thought it was brilliant in its naturalism. Compared to a non-musical, I thought it still held up — I mean he did NOT get the girl for catssakes...but not ground breaking cinematic/image wise.
Terrible movie.

Cute, "interference gold" is a paint color.

This song is in open E tuning. The Led Zep III album has a lot of stuff in open D, which makes the voicings very similar. Page also messed about in open tunings on other zep albums.

I thought this was Ryan Adams till I checked the playlist.

Hey that's what I just said about the preceding Audrey's song, Oh Honey! Strong circumstantial proof that Bill G has intuited the connection too! If so, wow, that's some subtle dj'ing.

I love the vocals. They're not supposed to be pitch perfect, it fits with the folk style of the song. Love it. One of my favorite of the movie!

Shades of the Incredible String band!
I was going to rate it much higher until the vocals came in....is there an instrumental version on the album?

Nice little Roy Harper touch towards the end... Nice...
This is easily the weakest track from the album (in my opinion only... I guess that doesn't make it "easily" eh?). This isn't to say this sucks, simply to rave about how good the soundtrack is. And as others have said, do yourself a favor and watch the movie.
sunday morning cafe music.
nice enough but not too often.

Was this the song they were playing during the party with all his busker friends? Can't place it.
Best movie I've seen in ages... I rarely like movies that go for the heartstrings, but this one is so honest and well crafted I don't resent it.

Very nice.
If you have have a chance to see them (meaning within 200mi), GO SEE THEM. It's absolutely the best concert we have ever seen.
I hope he doesn't change.
Although on the Once soundtrack, this is actually another Irish band called Interference. A haunting Irish sound. They opened for Swell Season when my daughter and I went to see them at Radio City Music Hall. Big venue, intimate show. Wonderful, wonderful night.. Glen leaves it all on the stage, song after song. Played a lot of Van Morrison too. Marketa is lovely-

Ha! So cool to hear this on RP. Wonderful movie and a superb soundtrack.
The thing that made Once so unique is that they had musicians playing musicians, instead of actors playing musicians.
Try stuff from The Swell Season (band name for Glen and Marketa) if you enjoy the soundtrack. Most of the songs came from their studio stuff.
This tune alone is a bit of a standout on the album, though, because it is one of the few without Marketa, and instead includes some of Glen's old band (I think that's who those guys are?)
Oh, his band is The Frames. Thanks Bill!

He's the guitarist in The Commitments...
I think I dazed myself through that one.
