Once upon a time, my grown kids asked me why I didn't like Porcupine Tree. Said it was just the type of music I enjoyed.

This is curious. In the USA, Audio CD (new) is $23.37 + $3.99 S&H; what's the deal with that?

ah mate, he was awesome. My brother & I saw SW in Melbourne, flew from Perth (3000 kms East just for the concert)

Guess he was en-route to USA. Same show. Packed with great songs and a good 3 hours. I missed PT years ago and hanging out for him to come down-under! Yeah- thanks RP for setting me on this journey with PT and SW. Cheers ! {#Music}

4 1/2   the latest CD put out by Steven Wilson is excellent.  Man, are his rejects good!  

Some of it sounds like Frank Zappa.  A couple of songs mix heavy rock and jazz tones.  

 I particularly like the re-do of Don't Hate Me, originally put on the Porcupine Tree Stupid Dream CD.   Ninet Tayeb sings with Steven Wilson.  The re-do is more jazzier than the original.

Just amazing ending. After the big break, the song slowly builds until it eventually has 3 different keyboard rifs laying over each other, plus a great bass drive rif. Then that ending keyboard solo kicks in.....brilliant. SW has so much talent to burn, he just throws so much music into a single song that most bands would use to build a full record.

I haven't studied it in detail (yet), but I believe that band and/or solo iterations of Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler, and David Byrne each get more airplay here than Porcupine Tree does.  Peter Gabriel, The Cowboy Junkies, and Natalie Merchant may also be pretty close.

Could be right.  I own over a dozen PT CDs and this radio station still manages to play a PT song I don't have. Which is immensely pleasing.

Yes, yes......... Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson over and over, and there is no end of  a perfect music, allways creativ, innovativ, full of surprises, new ideas, cryptic meanings..........like if all members of Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Van-der-Graaf-Generator, King Crimson and even Mahavishnu Orchestra were reborn and got a reincarnation in the mind of Steven Wilson. I do not believe in God but this could be a miracle....God give a long life to S.W. and P.T. and Blackfield and........and al the side branches of this family.

This so god damn good. I'm longtime fan of PT and always find something new in their music with every listen. Good to see that they have made a big impression on the other side of the Atlantic.
I've met Steven a few times (i'm good friends with the guy who does his artwork) and he always has fresh ideas into which to take his music either with PT, solo or other collaborations.

I have made a compilation CD with alternating PT and Radiohead (album tracks only) and they go well together.

This song is reminding me of those 90's Industrial rock bands — ala Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, NIN etc etc.  And that is a good thing, I liked that music back in the day, and nice to hear now & again.

you are becoming my teacher fred - lot's of expressions I didn't know (and thanks to wikipedia)

this song is quite dark, like purple dark, almost in the same way as are some poems by Rimbaud or Verlaine, les poetes maudits. I like to think about them more as free minds, and may be this is indeed a curse.
In some ways Steven Wilson reminds me of them
