Colonialism is not the cause of conflicts, they exist between humans regardless, pre-colonial, pre-Colombian, take your pick, there's always been war between different tribes, over resources... or for whatever reason. Using colonialism as a cause is just a justification to hate modern Western society. I'm not seeing the difference. I agree that many boundaries are purely political, look at the history of Europe! But as long as there are humans, there will be conflict and war. Get used to it. And keep politics out of RP.
Absolutely correct. Tribal conflicts are, and always have been, endemic in Africa. Its very useful to sacpegoat "The white man" to avoid culpability.
I'm really excited to see him playing live this Friday in Haarlem. Thank you for introducing me to this incredible artist, RP!
Hendrix of the Sahara
I Agree!!
This song summons many emotions. Nationalism is not one of them.
LLRP - and empty offices
Amazing track. And while colonialism explains some conflicts, the lack of colonialism explains others. Europeans have no monopoly on moral culpability.
Wherever whitey goes trouble follows .

You don't see the difference; As long as you're on the side of those who have the nukes. On the other side people develop a third eye.

Quite a bit of irony in your last sentence. Where in your post do you mention the song?
Following Bill's comment: it's true that boundaries"don't matter so much up there"
These boundaries, drawned by colonialism regardless of ethicity and the lands own history. Which explains some of the many conflicts in some of these artificial countries.
Beautiful track.

Wat een verschrikkelijke slechte stem.
I honestly cannot stand this guy's voice, but I wouldn't call it bad... its just not my thing. It would be like calling Limburger "verschrikkelijke slechte kaas". You might not like it, but that shit still sells and there are some people out there who love it.
Also that guitar work is pretty lush.
with handclaps!
such as the USA?
:-)
And I find his voice to be pretty good, and fits the style of his music well...I guess we all have our own definition of 'terrible voice' which is good...LLRP!!
Thanks AGAIN for discovering me to great "new" stuff, RP!
I so agree between RP and WFMU my musical tastes have expanded. Triple j from Australia is great too

You both sound racist AF. Regardless, his music is sweet. And here, it's supposed to be about the music.
