I Agree!! Thanx RP!
Funkalicious!
I agree!!
Levitt Pavillion, Denver, July 9, 2021: It was an absolutely magical evening; I can't help but love 'em forever!
Wise king, er... not so wise?
Try listening to the whole album (sublime) or the Mirror Conspiracy... These guys are gods.
Mirror Conspiracy is a fantastic album.
Groovy, man. Groovy🐨
blow those horns
maybe they picked up the pieces of average white band.
But they rearranged them nicely!
I was thinking Right Place Wrong Time by Dr. John
Got my toes tapping… didn’t know them before this listen. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wait..., you didn't know your toes?

They actually have shifted their shows, it used to be that way, I've seen them 2x in the past couple of years and no rap except for maybe 1 song, and maybe 2-3 reggae songs. May depend on the tour and where they are too - their talented and can do quite a range of music.

They put on seriously good shows.
Or the theme music to The Mod Squad
I was hearing AWB's "Pick up the pieces."
Huh? How?
P.F.J.: Yeah...
JUDITH: Splitters.
P.F.J.: Splitters...
FRANCIS: And the Judean Popular People's Front.
P.F.J.: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Splitters. Splitters...
LORETTA: And the People's Front of Judea.
P.F.J.: Yeah. Splitters. Splitters...
REG: What?
LORETTA: The People's Front of Judea. Splitters.
REG: We're the People's Front of Judea!
LORETTA: Oh. I thought we were the Popular Front.
REG: People's Front! C-huh.
FRANCIS: Whatever happened to the Popular Front, Reg?
REG: He's over there.
P.F.J.: Splitter!

No.
SORRY, I usually like Thievery Corp, but I've been hearing too much catatonic music today on RP, Dec 5, 2015. What's up?
I'll tune back in again next week.
You find this "catatonic"? Hmmm...

Yep this is what it reminds me of also...good stuff.
Different tempo, different beat, different song entirely, though these guys were obviously influenced by Curtis and a lot of other soul artists of the 1970s - which is not a bad thing. Anyhow, the song title is "Freddie's Dead".
It probably is composed of loops, and certainly is repetitive, but I expect that it's written to be danced to, not to be listened to at a desk. Most dance music is repetitive, of necessity. IIRC TC come out of the club scene, and in my local record store their stuff is filed under Dance. Remember that TC comprises just two guys using samplers, so they have to use loops.
Caught them at Lolla this past year.
They had everyone moving in one massive kickin' groovy dance fest.

This sort of reminds me of Tom Scott and the LA Express (I think they were called). They were from the 70's, I think.
I like this. A bit of disco, but not crappy disco. Sort of. What am I trying to say, anyway?
oh, "Heeeeeerrrrrrrre commmmmmesss the express, expressssss!!!" that one?
I think it's something from the '70's and I'm just not able to get it.
Aaaaarrrrgh!

So, the richest man in Babylon is Pliny the Elder? And all this time I thought he was Roman.
what he said

Aaaaarrrrgh!
It definitely has that '70s groove going on, much like War and Average White Band, as mentioned earlier, also reminiscent of something by Curtis Mayfield.
This is what I am reminded off...
Yes!!!! That's it!!! Pick up the Pieces!!!!!
Thank you!!!

I think the horns remind you of War around '71 or '72 (Slippin' into Darkness).
Cannot agree more emphatically. These guys burn down the house!
"THAT'S why this song has got the funk! It's Thievery Corporation!" (Of course, silly boy.)
I think it's something from the '70's and I'm just not able to get it.

I concur!!
ME THREE!
Or perhaps Fela?
Thanks
I concur!!
I believe it's just a band name with little or no connection to Naomi Klein or her work, but then again, who knows... Great tune regardless of possible laissez-faire-spirited displeasure with the band's name choice.
Just another wordplay band title related to sampling...like the Kleptones.
Surely you can come up with a few more.
And I do like this tune, and most of their stuff. My children can't figure me out
So. Is it true that fans of Naomi Klein are also fans of Thievery Corporation?
C'mon now. Modern multi-national corporations are not that bad. Many are more responsive than governments of rich, western democracies. Activists shareholders can grind a modern company to standstill. Governments can respond with wire-tappings, arbitrary detentions, water cannons, mace and bayonets.
