You are the crown of creation.
You are the crown of creation,
And you've got no place to go.
Soon you'll attain the stability you strive for,
In the only way that it's granted:
In a place among the fossils of our time.
In loyalty to their kind
They cannot tolerate our minds.
In loyalty to our kind
We cannot tolerate their obstruction!
Life is change.
How it differs from the rocks.
I've seen their ways too often for my liking.
New worlds to gain.
My life is to survive and be alive
for you.
You are the crown of creation,
And you've got no place to go.

In the only way that it's granted:

Thanx RP
Was in Lima Peru spring of 73' met some gringos they mentioned they were the chemist for the Airplane. yeah right, but then they pulled out a viseine bottle and made us some blotter on a napkin. We took it when we climbed an obscure Inca ruin outside of Cusco. Climbed to about 16,000 feet in my cowboy boot on what turned out to be a festival day in the local village we started in. Incredible time
RIP Paul indeed. A bad year for rock n' roll legends thus far.

He also said that "Crystal Ship" was about a glass of brandy. Sure, Jim. Whatever you say.
FWIW, the Crystal Ship refers to the oil drilling platforms off the coast back in the 60's and in particular up by Santa Barbara that were all lit up at night looking ships from the distance.
And this song, a 10 from a great album

Blows Against the Empire
I think not
I agree that Blows Against the Empire was quite good, but after that... Everyone seems in agreement that latter day JS were awful and apparently at least had the good grace to not use "Jefferson" in the name (although that may have been compelled by legal means).

I love the grittiness of Jefferson Airplane. Once they became the Starship, they became boring.....

Yep. My fave cut though is If You Feel.
Holds up well...
My favorite song on the album is "Lather"... How young, naïve, innocent and romantic we were...
Once upon a time, a long-long time ago, in a land far-far away, where people who looked much like we do today dressed differently, acted a bit differently believed in a future that was not yet ready to become today

I like the music but I misprize the cover. Bombs are horrible.

Some fiery music on this record -- 'Greasy Heart' is as passionate as anyone can sing -- and it really sends me back to some wild windowpane weekend parties!
One of my favorites. Thanks for playing it.
I love that there is a 10-year gap in the comments for this song, and people pick right up and start furiously debating again whether or not "The Lizard King" was worthy of all the hype...
When there was revolution in the air.
Heady times.
Heady times.

Jim Morrison once called them "The most boring band on earth"...

While you\'re on this album, could you play Triad, written by David Crosby? I think it\'s a much better song.
This sounded very good on RP. Well-placed, too, in a great set of music. Thanks Bill.

Man... I wish I was alive and kicking during the 60\'s.
Great song by a band my parents introduced me to.
By God, were we young or what?
:p
Now play Hyperdrive off the Dragonfly album and see what the young-uns think! ;^)

Blows was originally to be a Paul Kantner solo; the band was a sort of who's who of San Fransisco musicians.. The first few Jefferson Starship albums (Dragonfly, etc.) were very good. Non-Jefferson Starship, yes, was bad. I saw the first Jefferson Starship tour in'74 in Durham NC.They played the starship theme side of "Blows", a lot of Dragonfly and some Airplane hits. Kansas was the opener. An all around amazing show. A later "Jefferson Starship" played the Bijou in Knoxville years after. Also a great show, and without the just "Starship" dreck. The name included "Jefferson" only if Kantner was in the band.
