Yeah, I think it's a data problem on RP's end.

Looks to me like it plays two songs because of (or for the same reason as) the song that's playing 'underneath' has no album cover and wasn't announced.

I had the same exact experience this past week playing from cache on my Samsung Smartphone. Maybe the issue is going from one cache block to another.

Nope. It's always been within a cache block.

Pardon me for piggy backing, but I suspect that I might have gotten about a similar issue with my iPhone 6S plus and cached playback on the app.

I get overlap often when there is a "station break" - i.e. a spoken interlude with Bill or Rebecca - sometimes introducing the next track.  Two tracks will play on top of each other after that until I touch the "pause" button, and then the one remaining will be a song other than what was announced and not what the display shows is playing.  If I do that, I can hear that song all the way to its end, then I press "play" again to resume the announced track.

Since this seems to me to be linked to data (i.e. how the stream is constructed) and not just programming, I think it is something that you (Bill) as the programmer might have some influence on.

What do you think?

Should I still send a message through the app?

A small technical issue on my iPhone 5S: when firing up the RP app, it starts playing the current song in the live stream from the beginning, which is a great feature (always good to hear a song from the beginning) - but if it's a bit behind where the song is in the stream, the next song overlaps it, and sometimes by a considerable margin if the current song is near its end in the live stream, which can lead to some rather discordant mixes!

(I'm listening to the FLAC stream, and have the app set to Autostart music.)

Is this normal?

No, not at all normal.

The next time that happens, please tap settings -> send feedback -> malfunctioning.

That will send a message (& log) to Giacomo, our trusty iOS developer.

Ha - well, since I mentioned it, it's not done it again! So all's good {#Cheesygrin}

Thanks, Bill - I'll certainly do that :)

I appreciate the swift reply - not to mention the renewed joy you've brought to my life with your terrific music choice! {#Bananajam}As an ex- local radio presenter here in the UK, so disillusioned by computerised playlists and "play what you're told" management that I dropped out of the business years ago, RP is SO MUCH a breath of fresh air!
