Trump tells Ms Nancy that she can't have a military plane for her little PR soiree to Europe because the government is shutdown.
No SOTU, no plane. Gives her the green light to fly commercial though.
Trump did also mention that he wishes that she would stick around DC and negotiate to end the shutdown rather than do some globe trotting.
So who is actually keeping the government closed ? Trump cannot end the shutdown until Congress puts something on his desk to sign.
The problem with blaming Pelosi and the Dems in the House, as you have done in your post, is that the House has passed bills that are sitting in the Republican-controlled Senate — where McConnell refuses to move them unless he has heard from the President that he would sign them.
More interestingly: Not sure why one would celebrate Trump's move to cancel authorization to use government planes for her trip. Based on Trump's tweet, it can only be seen as a tit-for-tat, petty move. His tweet says the trip is just for public relations; if he thought that to be true, why would he ever authorize the use of the planes? Yet he indicates that it would be approved after the shutdown ends. See, that is what I like to do now: take Trump's version of events as true, and then break it down to find it makes no logical sense.
Please re read my post. I did not blame Pelosi and the Dems in the House. I said "until Congress puts something on his desk to sign". I put the blame on Congress, as a whole. Yeah, I get the role of the Senate and McConnell, it was the same thing with Reid. We are only in this mess because Congress has refused to do anything for decades anyway.
Yeah, it's tit for tat, at least it is to me. Can't see how it isn't. You want to break down Trump's remarks ? Well let's break down Pelosi's. She cannot keep Trump safe in the House chamber so he can give his speech ? Really ? I find that laughable.

true, thanks:
WASHINGTON (CN) – The House of Representatives approved a bill Thursday that would reopen the government through February, but a dispute over procedure led the measure to be vacated shortly after passage this afternoon.
Some Republicans gathered on the House floor shouted “shame” shortly after the voice vote went final. They said requests to take a formal vote recording every member’s position went ignored.
Even before the bill was vacated, however, it was unlikely to end what has become the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. President Donald Trump has long maintained that he will veto similar bills passed by the House because they lack money for his long-promised wall along the southern border.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., meanwhile has said the Senate will not vote on a bill that does not have the president’s support, effectively ensuring that the measure never gets to Trump’s desk.

yeah, he's a vindictive little b$#ch, but we already knew that. but you're right about the last point, dems should throw the ball back clearly into his court.
Socialism, really? There is a big difference between being a liberal, someone who supports social programs but still embraces our democracy and capitalism, and a leftist/socialist. While the dems have some that have some left tendencies, most are centrist/liberals no matter what fox news says. As for the border, i havent seen any announce they are for open borders. What they have done is shown their hypocrisy by not agreeing to negotiate trumps petition to add to the existing walls...something the dems had agreed on a couple years back. So what changed other than the orange one...the politics
As for the SOTU , good riddance. Just another commercial for whichever party is in power.
Yea I gotta agree with you here. This sounds about right.
So Ms Nancy ain't gonna let Trump give his SOTU speech in the House chamber, eh ?
We can't protect him. From what ? Herself ?
Do it in the Oval Office. Sure, why not ? Or better yet, do it down at the border. Let Taco Bell cater it.
Nobody asked me, but I think the real reason is that she doesn't want to be seen on camera sitting behind him for an hour and a half having to look all proper and prim and in her place as SOTH. Besides, she's the one who is really in charge now.
She's doing Trump a big favor on this one. jmho ...

I have to wonder why democrats are defended so hard here when few here even admit that they are themselves. Most here seem to claim independent, third party affiliations or non political. With the democratic party rush to socialism and open borders and ... I also have to wonder what they have against Trump being nice to Russia. Isn't being nice to Russia all about embracing socialism as that is what Russia is really all about and the home of socialism. How can you have open borders and still insist that Russia keeps its nose out of here. Either we have sovereignty or we don't. Open borders means giving up sovereignty. Can't have it both ways. Nancy wants it both ways ...
Someone around here just called for the State to buy and own and operate PG&E. That is the very definition of socialism. Someone else likes it both ways.
So confused ...
just sayin'
And her green font fan club must be swooning in his hotel room ...
