But if the bible is supposed to be the word of god, then don't those contradictions matter, small though they may be? Shouldn't they point to the conclusion that the bible isn't, in fact, the word of god, but of many different believers and followers of Judaism and Christianity, which was then consolidated, edited, and translated many times over the years to the form of the book today?

Of course, this is just my opinion. I personally view religion (at least, most major religions) as doing more harm than good, and think that they have no place in our society today.
