I'm Going Out For Some Cigarettes

"I'm Going To The Store For A Pack Of Cigarettes" -  8" x 10"
Inks and washes - simulating early 1960s-style duo-tone - on Color-aid® paper.
Color-aid is not the most predictable or controllable surface for wet media, but that's part of the adventure.

I go to the Chicago Mosaic School which offers me all the glass scrap, 1" tiles, and broken dishes I could ever want in my life. Then I supplement with my own materials, like the glass nuggets, and there are also some river stones in there. It's stuck to a 4-pane window sash.

Very nice, indeed !

Must be awesome in direct sunlight.

So you glue down right on the window glass? This is really nice.

Yes, I use clear silicone from the hardware store.

Thanks so much, I wish I had a decent camera so you could really see what it looks like.

That's cool. Theme? Well, the blue looks like water. Beach?

It's actually the elements: fire, air earth, and water.

James Acord was an artist who possessed a unique vision of the inevitable union of art and science.  I learned of him only a few days ago and find myself utterly fascinated by his passion and dedication.

Monstrance for a Grey Horse is a work of ten years that now resides at Georgetown University in Texas.  I will make a pilgrimage to experience it...

Perhaps the final recorded images of the man are available here.
