The Amazon search algorithm doesn't look at the description, but Google does. I tend to put more important search terms in the bullet points and maybe repeat them in the description... but the description is also what people see if it's shared on Facebook, so I sort of also try to make that readable or funny or say "buy now and share" or something at the start of the description.
