The last couple of days it has been raining hard up here on the northern tip of the Sonoran Desert. (Though whether our region of sage brush steppe is actually part of the Sonoran Desert is subject to debate.)
Delayed garden and lawn irrigation by 2 days.
Yes. We are slowly but steadily working on replacing all the Victorian lawn. Bright green Victorian-style lawns in deserts and semi-arid sage brush steppe are not aesthetically appealing.
Left job on 7th floor but had to go back after five miles because I couldn't remember if I left a sweaty cup of water on a decorative table in rushing out

Excellent stuff! I just scoured the thread for all of Kurtster's posts related to eye sight. I highly recommend them.
I was also totally impressed with his economic intuition. Turns out Kurt has a degree in Business Administration. No wonder..... I mention this because it is important to understand the material incentives of professional care givers when weighing advice and options.

Incidentally, in the same thread, I ran into a post by what I believe is an American woman who complained about her obstinate, stubborn optometrist who insisted on ordering something for her she did not want. Kurt advised her to find another.
Reminds me of a woman complaining about coming home after "getting her hair done" and re-washing it to get all the gel and other stuff out that her hairdresser insisted on applying over her objections.
Look. Some men are equal opportunity abusers. Even some women are pushy. Some women should learn that "no" is "no" only if you really mean it and move on quickly if the service providers insists on something the client does not want.
For better or worse, most service providers take "no" from a 6 1/2 foot white male without too much difficulty. But at the end of the day, it is all in your head. Tiny women less than 5 feet tall can be just as or more ferociously independent than 6 foot plus males.
This week has been my own personal episode of 'Dirty Jobs'. I had to clean the drain line in the sink where the AC condensate drains. The AC kept cutting off because the drain line backed up. Sink drain? Three words: Dis. Gus. Ting.
All good now, but the gross factor was high with this one. c.
Yes, that lovely, black slime with the pleasant aroma that lingers in one's sinuses for the rest of the day - especially when it's a kitchen sink.
He's posted lengthy treatises on the merits/falsehoods of various eyeglass options... I can't get the RP search function to work, but ... the answer is here somewhere. Maybe someone else can link it up; I'm on vacation! Working on the mother-in-law's sprinkler system! Yes that's the same thing! Vacation=Plumbing, didn't you know? Last Saturday we were staying at a friend's house in Oakland and we returned from a day in The City to learn that a small project had turned into an all-dayer with the water off until he could get some pipes replaced. So last Saturday I was plumbing on vacation, today I'm Plumbing On Vacation...
Band name.

Thanks Scott. I will pm Kurster.
Plumbing on vacation. -hehe- On the bright side, at least you know how to do basic plumbing. A big chunk of the planet has no clue.
It is like swimming. A big chunk of the planet cannot swim. Educated folks from rich countries can swim.
Thanks for the opinion kurster. Please expand on the benefits of blue light filtering eyeglass lenses.

I got a nice, cheap, 34" ultrawide LG from Costco recently in lieu of a nice 27. It was a mistake to not get the curved screen. Parallax doesn't seem important until you run into it constantly.
As our resident optician, I agree. Also don't forget blue light filtering eyeglass lenses.

I am trying to convince my wife that she needs a 48" wide curved LED monitor for her PC workstation. (Cost is a mere C$1,300)
All she wants is another 27" flat LED monitor to replace the second 24" monitor so she will work with two 27" flat LED monitors.

Am doing my best to convince her that she will have more de facto real estate to arrange documents and data banks. Not working so far. I even told her that none of the components are made in Republican states.....
