There is no need for that. Syrians (like everybody) could just ask for a refugee status and fly by plane to the Netherlands. You have to fill in some papers, wait for a while and then take the plane.
Edit: I see you can just take the plane. No papers needed except a valid passport.
Sure, just make your way across Syria (just hop in the car! Or maybe hitchhike) to Damascus and line up at the Netherlands embassy. Where you will be greeted by a sign along these lines:
Because of deteriorating circumstances in Syria it has been decided that all services of the Dutch Embassy are suspended starting immediately. This also implicates that as from 15 March 2012 no visa-applications can be done at the Embassy. Visa-applications can be filed at one of the other Dutch Embassies in the region, for instance Beirut, Amman or Ankara. But that plane...just get on an airplane! There is exactly one international airport in Syria, in Damascus. It's intermittently closed and there are currently a total of two commercial carriers flying four flights* out of there (two international: you can get to Tehran or Al-Najaf, Iraq) because (and maybe you missed this on the news) there's a war going on. Oh, and you'll need your papers and Syrian government permission (expect...delays. Maybe detention and torture) to travel.
It's all so simple! Why didn't millions of refugees fleeing for their lives think of that? They could have saved themselves the trouble of walking hundreds of miles and risking a sea voyage that has already killed thousands of them.
Maybe you should go explain all this to them. I'm sure your advice would be welcome.
*This was for May 31. There are other international destinations: you can get to Khartoum, Bagdad, or Kuwait on June 1, or all the way to Oman or Basra on June 2. No flights scheduled June 3 or beyond.
Yeah nice investigation. Kudo's for the energy. But how about the European embassies in Turkey or Libanon when you are trying to get to Europe?

A year ago the head of the refugee centres in the Netherlands spoke about the enrichment the new refugees bring. They are high educated and that's good for our country. He stated that 1/3th has a degree from a university. Today 2 articles: - Turkey sends only low educated syrians to Europe. Almost all are low educated. - Significant increase in social income requests, 75% of former syrian refugees receive social income (That doesn't say 25% has a job. If you are old, ill or handicapped you get a different social income which is not counted within this number)
Seems like the natural course of events to me: the culture of Turkey is a lot closer to what they're used to. Why subject themselves to the deprivations of further travel and abuse and hostility from people like you if they don't have to? After all, they didn't flee where they lived until it was a matter of life and death. This crisis is driven by war and oppression, not economics—or they would have come in their millions decades ago.
But I know a way to get ahead of this.
Set up processing stations in Turkey welcoming the talent you want. Give preference to them and let them in.
I mean, if that's what you really object to and this isn't just one more excuse to turn people in need away.

I had heard about Turkey keeping the skilled refugees and sending on the ones that would need benefits. Turkey really is out to screw Europe. Erdogan is now proclaiming that Muslims must never use contraception to keep birth rates high.
In the UK we now have migrants crossing the English Channel by boat in increasing numbers. We have just three coastguard boats patrolling the waters. If they pick up migrants they get brought to the UK instead of returned back to mainland Europe.

A best selling Algerian author warns that the “refugee welcome” culture is “naive,” and that Islam will fracture European society.
Algerian writer and best selling author Boualem Sansal paints a bleak vision of Europe’s future in his new work 2084: The End of the World, the title evoking George Orwell’s dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. Mr. Sansal sees a Europe —not governed by a totalitarian Big Brother as Mr. Orwell did, but rather — subjugated by radical Islam.
Promoting the book, the author warns that the “refugees welcome” attitude that Germans have shown is “completely naive,” and warns of the perils of radical Islam on European society in a new interview, reportsKronen Zeitung.
Mr. Sansal blames what he calls an overly tolerant society as the reason for his vision of the future of Europe. He says that in Germany in particular that the experiences of the Second World War have made the nation an easy prey for Islamists. He told media that many of the radical Islamists in his native Algeria were forced out for their agitations against the government and many of them have found asylum in Germany.
Europe is experiencing a “return of religion” according to Mr. Sansal, who says that the problem is not just a German issue but pan-European. He claims that Islam is gaining more traction among the population in European countries and especially among youths.
Young people in Germany and elsewhere have even begun attempting to join Islamic State over the past year — some even committing attacks on its behalf. The author warns that the trend among young people will contaminate the entirety of European society.
The consequences for women in an Islamised Europe are dire, Mr. Sansal says. Women’s equality will be a thing of the past he claims, explaining: “In the Islamic universe, there is only a mother’s love, the love of God. In love, the women hide. The woman herself does not matter.”
Blaming the weakness of Europe to come to its own defence, he says that groups like Islamic State are using the tolerance of Europe against itself. According to him, the attacks in Paris and Brussels are directed at the Western way of life and shared common values. “You can not even defeat the weak Arab states, so they have brought in fifth columns to bring the West to destroy itself. If they succeed society will fall,” he said.
A top United Nations (UN) official has demanded European Union (EU) leaders welcome millions more migrants from the Middle East and Africa. Promising that the “biggest human migration in history” is going to fast accelerate as “young people all have cellphones and can see what’s happening in other parts of the world”, he claimed Pakistanis and Bangladeshis were the “backbone” of the British economy.
Michael Moller’s comments come as around 14,000 — a number that is rapidly increasing — mostly sub-Saharan African migrants from safe countries are beingdelivered to European shores each week. The continued “welcome” to limitless numbers of people from countries with fertility rates of six children per woman will add to fears that Europe is seeing the events of ‘Camp of the Saints’, the controversial 1973 novel about European Civilisation collapsing under the weight of the third world arriving in boats, happening in real time.
Accusing EU leaders of “complacency and lack of leadership” for not having systems in place to welcome and flawlessly integrate millions overnight, the head of the UN’s Geneva office blasted European heads of state like David Cameron for failing to create a “positive narrative” about the issue. Mr Moller, a Dane said:
“What we have been seeing is one of the biggest human migrations in history, and it’s just going to accelerate.
“Young people all have cellphones and they can see what’s happening in other parts of the world, and that acts as a magnet.
Turkey is pushing the blackmail hard. 'Allow us to send millions of Turks to Europe or we will send the millions of refugees we are holding.(which will later be sent anyway)'
This is old news. About a month ago Europe started to make a plan B involving billions for Greece in return for large refugee centres. Also the flow of immigrants back to Turkey has stopped already 2-3 days after the start of the big master plan. There is no collaboration with Turkey for months now and the initial plan is already death well before the reaching a final agreement with Turkey.

Pegida expresses outrage that coloured kids are depicted on Kinder chocolate bars, apparently unaware that the kids are all part of the national football team
gotta love it.
Why on earth is most chocolate still brown?! In this day and age that seems entirely unnecessary, discriminatory and politically correct! Make our chocolate white! Signed: Patriots against the colourization of chocolate.

If we are going to make news articles from idiots using the social media... What about the thousands of messages from Turkish or Moroccan people saying really bad things about jews and western countries? That selfie-girl was not an accident. It's more uncommon to see a Turkish Facebook page without any super-negative comments about western countries and Israel.

Saudi diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks in 2015 reveal a system of funding for mosques, Islamic centers and Saudi-trained clerics that spans Asia, Africa and Europe. In New Delhi alone, 140 Muslim preachers are listed as on the Saudi Consulate’s payroll.
