Try to find a Technics 1200mk2 in good condition, they last forever, a workhorse machine & you can find spare parts easily . Its ok. Do note that it has no pitch or speed control and the manual says it has a 2% rotation variance, which is a lot. You can hear that. And it has a chachky power supply.

They're built like the brick shit house and very easily serviced. It would be the last turntable you'll ever buy.

I will probably get a turntable soon, right now I'm shopping and this TN-100 caught my eye, for 279 bucks less than the 400S,
maybe more up (or down) to my speed, I'll probably not play it much since I have only one vinyl to play but of course that'll change

Went through this a year and a half ago. I would strongly recommend getting a Technics SL 1200. They are going to be a bit more than the $400 you are willing to pay, but with all the others out there new in this price range, its going to be the best in the long run. They hold their value as well.

Here's a link that has some available in NYC. You might be able to negotiate and pick up saving shipping, etc. I got mine from this site. It was from a seller in Japan. Ideally you don't want one that was used for DJ'ing ...

There's also fleabay ... ;)
