The new thing that's been happening is that the ISP blocks certain addresses... I have been declared a spammer by quite a few ISPs.  The only way to fix it is for my colleague to contact their ISP and fill out a form that says, yes, I am their contact and I am not a spammer.  This is different than spam filtering.  But the worst part, is that I do not receive any notice that this has happened, until I realize my emails aren't getting through.  Then, my client has to do the footwork of making it right, which is extremely inconvenient for them... and sometimes they're just not savvy enough... or they're too busy!

That's happened to me also. Partly because of spammers spoofing my email addresses so some ISP's will block anything coming from the domain "braveknight.com" which is mine. Even Verizon deemed me a spammer and many of my friends use them. It was hell getting them to remove me from that list.

Even the best spam catching software sometimes catches legit emails and not everyone checks it without deleting. Also, some ISP's like the one I have has their own spam catchers so if any legit ones are flagged there I would never even know about it.

"It was in the email I sent.  You didn't get it?  I sent it yesterday morning..."

This new phenomenon of emails being sent, and not being delivered, with no notice to either party, is just about ruining my business.  Email has become extremely unreliable.

And then of course, there's the phishing and the spam and the viruses...

What's going to happen??  Email is my notebook.  It's my inbox.  It's my ToDo list with projects prioritized.  It's the record of what was requested and what was delivered.  It saves reams of paper.  It allows me to send a business-toned comment to a dippy client when I know my voice would drip with sarcasm.

I love email, and it's intent is fantastic.

How is it possible that hackers can bring the whole system down by rendering it unreliable?  And WHY would they do that?
